After receiving dermal fillers, the cheeks may appear red and swollen which is normal and expected. To reduce swelling at home, you can apply ice to help reduce any mild discomfort. If you also experience bruising, using arnica products can help relieve this.
That said, these injectable treatments take some time to integrate into your tissues, and it's normal for your dermal filler to take up to two weeks to fully settle into your face.
Avoid itching, or picking around the injection site. Avoid applying intense heat to the treated area, that includes hot tubs, saunas, sunbathing or tanning. Don't drink alcohol the day of treatment, and try to avoid it for 2 days after. Avoid exercising for 2 days or until swelling subsides.
Immediately after the treatment, there may be a slight redness, swelling, tenderness, a faint bubble‑like appearance and an itching sensation in the treated area. These side effects are a normal result of the injection and will generally disappear gradually over a period of 7–14 days.
The Results Improve Over Time
Because these injections stimulate your body's production of collagen and elastin, the final results of treatment won't be seen for several weeks. Even as the hyaluronic acid is processed by your body, healthy collagen and elastin grow at a more significant rate.
Hello - Swelling post dermal filler injection does occur and usually peaks at 24-48 hours. This may affect your smile. The good news is swelling typically is fully resolved by one week and your smile should be back to normal.
It is not uncommon to experience a small degree of asymmetry immediately post-treatment due to the potential for swelling and bruising. Juvederm can take up to 4 weeks to integrate, so it is best to wait and review in 2-4 weeks with your Injector at which point you will have a better idea of the final result.
Swelling subsides, typically, within a few days. It's most apparent 24 to 72 hours after treatment before starting to subside gradually. Very occasionally, swelling can last from several days to four weeks.
How long does cheek filler swelling last? Swelling typically occurs within 24 to 72 hours after dermal fillers. It will subside on its own after this period. On rare occasions, swelling can last from 1 to 4 weeks.
Cheek Filler is an injectable treatment that aims to restore lost volume to the area surrounding the cheekbone. The treatment can also lift the cheeks, giving a more contoured look to the face.
Please do not sleep on your sides and try to stay sleeping flat on your back. Please avoid from wearing large earrings or clip on earring that would squish the product and leave a mark. The product will fully settle in about 1-2 weeks.
In recent years, however, there have been many media stories of dermal fillers gone wrong. Filler complications such as necrosis, infection, filler migration, lumps and unnatural results are all possible.
When you have had too much filler, then you may appear to have a bulging forehead, an overly pointy and sharp chin, and overly protruding cheekbones. Furthermore, the filler can stretch and weigh down your skin over time, which is known as filler fatigue.
You may find that chin, temple and cheek fillers are less likely to cause swelling. This is because the filler is placed deeper or above bone or cartilage, and the swelling is therefore somewhat hidden. You may still see a bit of swelling and bruising, but it shouldn't be too pronounced.
Recovery. During the first few days after an injection, you should avoid sleeping on your cheeks. Try to sleep facing up, flat on your back. You may also want to avoid strenuous exercise until the filler has completely taken its shape, 48 hours after the injection procedure.
Avoid excessive touching or massaging the treated areas for about 6 hours after the injections. The treated areas can be washed with a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil® Cerave® or Dove® unscented.
You should be advised about what to do to help reduce the risk of side effects. This includes not wearing make-up immediately after the procedure and avoiding alcohol, coffee and the sun.
Treating with 1ml at a time is certainly appropriate for some areas, such as volumising lips or having smaller tweakments into other areas of the face. Sometimes, however, more than 1ml may be required – in the cheeks, for example – as 1ml may not make a discernible difference.
Signs and symptoms of allergic reactions to cheek fillers include prolonged swelling, pain, and discomfort. It may also cause itchiness and, in very rare cases, anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis is the severe allergic reaction to medication or food that leads to shock, skin rashes, and low pulse rate.
Within the first two weeks after your injections, lumps and bumps are normal because the cheek filler is settling. If they are particularly pronounced, your injector may recommend massaging the filler. Secondly, if it is after two weeks, your injector will likely still recommend massage first.
Apply Ice – While it's not recommended that patients put much pressure on their injection sites, gently applying ice to the treated areas can help reduce swelling.
Do they lift like a facelift? Never. However, they do provide a bit of a lift or give the illusion of lifting. Cheek fillers also provide volume to the face.
Drink plenty of water. HA based fillers such as Juvederm work by using the water naturally stored in our tissues, by drinking plenty of water after having a dermal filler treatment it helps the filler hold its chaos and last for longer.
