ACTIVITY AFTER FAT TRANSFER TREATMENT Avoid bending, lifting, or straining for one to two weeks. Be extremely careful if wearing any “pull-over the head” clothing.
First 3 weeks after surgery, NO aerobic exercise/activities that raise your heart rate or blood pressure. NO heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of 10 lbs. or more for 6 weeks. Approximately 6-8 weeks post op strenuous activity will be allowed. NO HOT or WARM compresses.
Sustaining long-term results requires continuing to maintain a stable weight, focusing on a diet rich in nutrient-dense foods, and an active lifestyle including low-impact exercises. Select an experienced board-certified surgeon to help maximize your fat retention and get your desired result.
(Please also be aware that anything else that can constrict blood supply – even caffeine – has the potential to affect the survival of the fat graft.)
The initial phase of recovery, characterized by swelling and bruises, usually occurs over 1-2 weeks, with most daily activities returning to normal after 2-3 weeks. Gentle massaging, elevation, cold compresses, and any pain medicine that may be prescribed are best to control swelling and discomfort in the first week.
Typically, after six to eight weeks, patients can start sitting without cushions for short periods, gradually increasing as comfort and healing permit. It's important to listen to your body and the advice of your BBL surgeon during this phase to avoid any setbacks.
A surgical fat transfer is generally a safe procedure, but it can occasionally result in: a collection of blood underneath the skin (haematoma) death of fat tissue (fat necrosis) a blockage in a blood vessel caused by a piece of fat (fat embolism)
Here is a general sleeping position timeline for women who received breast augmentation surgery: Women who received implants or fat transfer breast augmentation typically need to sleep inclined on their back for about two weeks.
Your body can't reject the transferred fat since it's your own tissue.
It can take up to six months to see the final results. During this time, the fat cells settle into their new places, where they remain for life.
There is no specific weight requirement for fat transfer procedures; however, patients should ideally be within a healthy weight range; it's also acceptable for fat transfer patients to be slightly overweight.
Recommended Sleeping Positions After BBL Surgery
While sleeping on your back might seem like a natural choice, it's generally not recommended after a BBL, especially when the fat has been transferred to the buttocks. Lying on your stomach is often the preferred position after BBL surgery.
Use a pillow: you can keep pressure off your buttocks by placing a pillow on the chair or seat. Cylindrical pillows are the best alternative when you need to sit down for specific activities like driving. Sit on your thighs: you can also try sitting on your thighs while leaving your butt suspended in the air.
When you're experiencing body composition changes like weight loss, it can affect many areas of your body, including your facial fat grafts, as they behave the same as any other fat. If you plan on losing weight after your facial fat grafts, you may experience a significant impact to your results.
Post- Op Bra: • It is imperative that your bra is always worn for at least six weeks. The support should cup your breasts below the fold and lift them up against gravity. After six weeks, you may transition to an underwire bra.
After Fat Transfer Surgery, Feed the Fat!
You will need to consume extra calories to provide those new fat cells with a good supply of blood. Eat nutrient-rich foods, including those with healthy fats, such as salmon, avocados, walnuts, and extra virgin olive oil.
The transferred fat cells continue to live in the area where they were injected. If a patient has significant weight gain or loss, these fat cells could expand or shrink, affecting the overall results of the procedure.
Fat Transfer - Associated Costs
Be sure to ask your surgeon what the approximate cost will be for your specific fat transfer surgery during your consultation. The average cost for a fat transfer is $2,085*. *The above statistic comes from the 2021 Aesthetic Plastic Surgery National Databank Statistics.
Pain after breast fat transfer is largely related to the liposuction areas. The pain is moderate but usually controlled with arm motion, Tylenol and Ibuprofen. If narcotics are necessary they are only for 1-2 days.
ACTIVITY AFTER FAT TRANSFER TREATMENT
Avoid bending, lifting, or straining for one to two weeks.
Some people can return to work and regular activities after a week, while others need two weeks or more. Talk to your plastic surgeon about recovery and what to expect for your specific fat transfer procedure.
Breast augmentation through fat transfer typically yields a high success rate, and the favorable outcomes are long-lasting. Over a period of six months following the surgery, the relocated fat cells settle into their new position, and they should maintain their permanence thereafter.
Firmness, lumpiness, or asymmetry may occur also. If some of the fat does not survive the transfer, it may actually “die” and become firm and cause discomfort. Cysts may form at the transfer site and require a procedure to remove. A symmetrical body appearance unfortunately may not result from a fat transfer procedure.
Fat removal is permanent, and while fat cells removed with liposuction will not come back, it is possible to regain weight in that area. After a fat transfer, the fat cells will permanently stay in their new home. However, you may see a proportional change in the volume of fat if you have dramatic weight changes.
