How do you mix Wella liquid toner T28 for best results? Use two bottles of Wella Charm Toner in T28. Mix with 4 equal parts of 20 vol dlvpr. Set for 30 minutes. Do not use a purple shampoo. Use a color protective shampoo instead.
T14 is a hair toner from the Wella Color Charm line, specifically designed for neutralizing unwanted warm or brassy tones in blonde hair. When used on orange brassy hair, T14 can help achieve a cooler, more ashy blonde tone. Here's how it works:
If you have any orange left in your hair, T14 is probably the best for your hair over T18. T18 is only effective if your hair is a level 10 or higher (purely yellow). Putting the wrong toner in your hair won't necessarily harm it, but it likely won't affect the color at all.
What color neutralizes orange hair? Blue toning formulas can help counteract orange tones in the hair. The reasoning goes back to basic color theory: Shades positioned opposite on the color wheel are complementary and effectively cancel each other out when combined.
Do You Apply Wella Toner on Dry or Wet Hair? Wella Colour Charm Toners are applied on damp, towel dried hair (but not wet). Applying to damp hair helps the toner not to 'grab' sections of the hair (which can leave some parts more toned than others).
10 Vol Developer can be used with Wella Colour Charm Permanent Toners, along with Shimmer Lights Toners. 10 Vol Developers won't have a noticable lightening effect on your hair, so are great if you're looking to stay at the same level, or go a bit darker.
Level 2–3 is extremely dark brown, as level 1 is black. Level 9–10 is very pale blonde. Color does not lift color; only bleach can make your hair lighter.
It all goes back to the basic principles of the color wheel; blue and green fall directly opposite from red and orange, which means that the cooler blue and green tones will neutralize and counteract the warmer ones, says Dupuis.
Use a Hair Toner for Brassiness
For clients who want their color touched up or their freshly-lightened locks beautifully balanced, a toner is your go-to. Try mixing in a shade with a major or minor tone of color that's /2, /6 or /8.
Use a hair toner
An easy way to neutralize brassy tones is with a hair toner. Blonde It Up Crystal Glow Toner is our top choice for color-treated blondes, bleached blondes and natural light blondes who are noticing yellow tones in their hair.
T14 is a pale ash blonde with violet-blue tones, making it better for hair that still has some orange left in it. T18, on the other hand, is Lightest Ash Blonde with only a violet base. Violet cancels out yellow while blue cancels out orange.
T35 Beige Blonde Hair Toner. Creates a rich honey beige blonde. Can be used to fix brassy orange hair to transform it to a more flattering warm shade.
Color Charm T27- Medium Beige Blonde. Size: 2 Fl. Oz.
Use 10 Volume if you are applying permanent, no-lift hair color. If the desired result is keeping color at the same color level by simply adding a tone or a tint, this is exactly what you should mix with. It won't significantly lift your base color and is the least damaging to the hair.
Originally called Princess Blonde, the T28 is a silver toner that's now called Natural Blonde. This toner was interesting because I read that hair needs to be prelighten to the yellow stage, not pale yellow, yellow.
The standard developer for gray coverage is 20 Volume; however, 30 Volume and 40 Volume can also be used if the percentage of gray is low and additional lift is needed to achieve the desired result.
You should wait to shampoo your hair again after applying toner for about 24 hours. This will allow the toner to set and not wash out of your hair.
Here are the rules for developer choice when going lighter using regular professional color: Use 10 Vol for tone down coloring and level-on-level coloring. Use 20 Vol if you are aiming for a 1-2 level lift (and if you have grey hair that needs covering). Use 30 Vol if you are aiming for a 2-3 level lift.
Apply the toner first to areas that require the most color correction or simply apply to the central part of the strands before working up to the roots and down to the tips.

Orange hair to light brown: Try using a medium ash blonde hair dye, as it can help neutralize the orange tone and achieve a cool light brown hue. Another option is to wait for the orange tones to fade and apply a light brown hair dye over it, making sure to choose a shade with ash undertones to neutralize the orange.
The most powerful toner against orange tones is the Wella Colour Charm Toner in 050 Cooling Violet. Used alone on blonde hair this gives a steel grey result. Used alone on orange hair this will really reduce the orange tones and leave you with an ashy dark blonde/light brown result.
