Avoid itching, or picking around the injection site. Avoid applying intense heat to the treated area, that includes hot tubs, saunas, sunbathing or tanning. Don't drink alcohol the day of treatment, and try to avoid it for 2 days after. Avoid exercising for 2 days or until swelling subsides.
Treat skin with care
Be extra gentle when applying skincare products and steer clear of retinol, glycolic acid, and exfoliating agents for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment to minimize the risk of irritation, says Dr. Goldberg.
General Care After Fillers:
Bruising and Swelling – gently ice for the first 24 hours. 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off – five times a day. Extra icing can definitely help. Headache Pain or Pain at Injection Site – Tylenol or Motrin usually is all that is required.
Retin-A, Glycolic acid, Vitamin C and Vitamin C cream should not be used in the treated areas for 24 hours after treatment. Avoid touching or manipulating the treated area for 6 hours following treatment. After 6 hours, the area can be gently washed.
You can definitely apply creams or lotions after Botox or facial fillers. I tell my patients not to massage the treated area for 72 hours so that you do not affect the results. Sunscreen should be applied daily.
Use plenty of moisturizer and sunscreen during the day. No new anti-aging products—those contain ingredients that may cause inflammation. You can usually keep using your usual products, but no need to add anything new. No heat treatments of any kind for 72 hours.
Certain Skin Products
Ordinarily, accelerating this process is a good thing since new skin cells will improve the tone and texture of your skin. However, after a dermal filler treatment, these products can cause skin irritation. Avoid these products for at least 24 to 48 hours.
Unfortunately, these levels majorly decrease over time, which is why it's important to have hyaluronic acid in your skincare routine, especially after fillers! This product enhances the plumpness fillers give you all while providing long-lasting hydration.
Continue To Cleanse And Moisturize Gently
You can use your regular cleanser and moisturizer, plus all your serums on skin that has Botox or injections just done.
That said, these injectable treatments take some time to integrate into your tissues, and it's normal for your dermal filler to take up to two weeks to fully settle into your face.
The filler can take several weeks to soften and settle into your skin. This means that patients won't see the ultimate results of their treatment immediately. Although individual results will vary, many people achieve the full effect within two weeks after receiving their injections.
Drink plenty of water. HA based fillers such as Juvederm work by using the water naturally stored in our tissues, by drinking plenty of water after having a dermal filler treatment it helps the filler hold its chaos and last for longer.
You are not allowed to smile for a few days after a lip filler. Facial expressions such as smiling, laughing, or frowning should have zero impact on your lip filler. It is actually better for you to smile and gently massage your lips, to help spread the product and produce a more natural end-result.
Yes, Vaseline or any other type of lubrication is fine after a filler. Sometimes your lips can feel a little chapped for a few days and the moisture may help.
This will help the newly injected filler stay in place. Apply an ice pack or cold wash cloth for 5-10 minutes every 2 hours for the first day, then apply 1-2 times daily for 2 more days. DO NOT apply pressure (unless instructed by your physician.)
Hello - Swelling post dermal filler injection does occur and usually peaks at 24-48 hours. This may affect your smile. The good news is swelling typically is fully resolved by one week and your smile should be back to normal.
Botox and fillers such as Juvederm or Restylane are not affected by retinols or AHAs. These products, along with sunscreen, will keep your skin healthy and young-looking.
It is strongly recommended that you do not use any facial scrubs or retinol based creams or exfoliating creams for at least 48 hrs after your filler injection. It may leave your skin irritated.
For a minimum of 3 days post-treatment, avoid using anything perceived as 'active' skincare. This includes products which contain Retinol, Vitamin C, Hydroxy Acids or Beta Hydroxy Acid.
Some dermal fillers have been studied to last close to two years. The three fillers that tend to last the longest are Restylane Lyft, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Refyne, Juvederm, Voluma, Radiesse, and Sculptra. Restylane Defyne is built for balance and used in the nasal labial folds and marionette lines.
Whether you're choosing injectables to soften fine lines and wrinkles, plump up lost facial volume, or tighten up sagging skin, you can expect to see results almost immediately. * While everyone is different and individual results vary, most patients see their results within 24 to 48 hours after their injections.
