Most women think brunette hair is the sexiest, as 25% of those polled favoured this option. Womens' second preference is blonde, which was voted as the sexiest hair colour by 19.6% of women. Again, red took third spot, accounting for 11.8% of womens' votes.
The results are explained by the study's authors: “…we found that lighter hair (blond and brown) compared to darker hair (black) is generally associated with perceptions of youth, health and attractiveness, and generally leads to more positive perceptions of relationship and parenting potential.”
Golden Chocolate
We're pretty sure that coating any chocolate brown base with golden balayage might be the ticket to eternal youth. It creates a shade that will catch the sunlight like a blonde without having to stray from your brunette roots. (That's the type of fresh, young glow we're looking for.)
The general rule of thumb is that skin with cool undertones look best with greys, browns, blues, greens and purples. Skin with warm undertones look best with either bright or light colors. And skin with neutral undertones looks great in bold, bright colors.
When in doubt, go a shade or two darker to avoid looking washed out. Overly orangey or reddish undertones in your hair color can be aging and may make your color look damaged.

Numerous studies point to brunette hair being more attractive. Take this 2011 study from dating app Badoo, for example. A couple of thousand UK men were polled and 33.1% of them revealed they found brunettes more attractive than blondes.
A general observation across experiments was that straight hair was perceived as younger, healthier, and more attractive than wavy hair and darker shades (medium copper and brown) were perceived more positively than blonde hair.
Burnt Umber. If you have worked with paints for a long time, you are sure to have come across and used burnt umber extensively. This is one of the most popular browns, which has rich and dark red undertones. Burnt umber is a very warm and deep shade of brown, which has many uses in color mixing and painting.
The general rule is this: warm tones for cool skin tones and vice versa. If you have neutral tones, you can choose any shade you're drawn too. Although, we'd advise not going too warm or too cool. If you have warm tones in your skin, a cool toned light brown hair colour will bring out the best in your complexion.
According to the study, men and women both viewed people with brunette hair color as more attractive than those with any other hue.
In concurrence with both earlier studies, the results of this study indicated red hair as the least preferred hair color. In the Likert scale positive characteristic evaluation, as well as in the survey questions, brunettes were given the highest ratings of all three categories.
Rainbow Research Henna Hair Color
If you want an entirely natural option, henna-based color is the only way to go. There's literally nothing else in this formula besides henna, available in nine colors.

According to a survey of 1,000 men, 54 percent would prefer a brunette as their wife, 16 percent prefer a blond, and 30 percent have no preference. Apparently, redheads were left out of this survey, but don't fret you fiery-maned ladies—it's probably best to be left out of this nonsense.
CNN recently shared research that men are most likely to prefer women with long hair past the shoulders. Guys were asked to rate the same women's faces based upon short, medium-length, plus super long locks. Males rated ladies with longer hair as more attractive.
Rich Chocolate
Rich is 2023's primary descriptor, and this goes double for brunettes. Those opting to stay in their brown-mane lane would do well to consider crossing fully into the dark side. Roszak recommends subtle, dimensional highlights—more for shine then anything else—and an overall deepening of the hue.
More saturated shades are more flattering, so look for deep pinks, bright blues and greens with a yellow undertone, such as pear. Ruby red, burgundy, plum and claret are all winners for brunettes.
