Add a generous amount of a leave-in conditioner or your favorite Verb conditioner directly to the knot. Let it sit for a minute to add moisture and slip. Use your fingers to gently pull the knot apart. Start at the ends of the hair and work your way toward the root.
Wet your hair and put conditioner, wait 5 minutes. Then fill up the tub with warm soapy water and soak in it for a few minutes. Head back just float and relax. Then start manipulating the tangles, have them under the water while doing this. The tangles should gently fall out, slowly and gently untangle them.
You'll want to find a paddle brush that will gently help your hair recover from the knots. It also may be better to start brushing from the bottom. Taking small segments at a time will help. By gently focusing on the knot itself -- and not the rest of your hair -- your problem will be quickly solved.
Make sure your hair is wet and soaked in conditioner. Get a tail comb and a regular brush and start from the very bottom of the nest. With your fingers try pulling tiny tiny sections apart and then comb it apart and down. Keep repeating the gentle stretching out of sections and combing.

If you have a lot of knots then start with a wide-toothed comb; this will remove bigger knots, then move onto using a smaller comb. Start at the ends and work your way up using gentle strokes to detangle knots.
The best way to get rid of rats or mice is by using traps. If using spring loaded traps for rats, bait three of them in a row without setting them. Bait with dried fruit, peanut butter mixed with oats, or cheese.
Stretch. Sometimes, getting up and moving or doing gentle stretching exercises can relieve a muscle that's knotted from being in an uncomfortable position for too long.
Use a pair of texturizing scissors over the mat, then gently tug at your hair to remove loose strands. If it has been weeks or months since the last time you combed your hair, cutting mats out may be your best option, as you could potentially spend hours detangling with little results.
Softly working the affected areas with your hands can be incredibly beneficial for reducing muscle knots. A specific kind of massage therapy called myofascial release therapy relies on constant, deep, gentle pressure to help release the tension and break up some of those constricted tissues in localized areas.
Use a detangling product
Detangling sprays or leave-in conditioners work wonders by coating strands, reducing friction and smoothing out tangles.
As I comb her hair, if I get stuck on a knot, I spray this right on to the knot and I am able to detangle it immediately. She does have fine, curly hair, so I am not sure how well this will work for thicker, curly hair. You might need to add more apple cider vinegar to the recipe and more lavender.

Apply hair oil to the hair for additional slip. Using a wide-tooth comb, gently rake through the hair as you separate strands from one another. Isolate any loose strands. Start detangling with a brush from the bottom of the hair and gently move up towards the matted area.
Working through larger knots when curls are dry is safer because when hair is wet, hair swells and the cuticle becomes more fragile, much easier to break. Hair is more likely to have their bonds intact when it's dry, but it can take time and patience to ensure you detangle gently and safely.
Combing wet hair with a fine-toothed nit comb may remove lice and some nits. Studies show that wet-combing results vary. Start by wetting the hair and lubricating it with hair conditioner or olive oil. Comb the entire head from the scalp to the end of the hair at least twice during a session.
You can also use detangling spray or oil (coconut, jojoba, argan, or a similar oil) instead, to help hydrate and loosen your hair. Work the product through your hair, being sure to saturate the matted area with an ample coating. Make sure to dry your hair off a bit so that it's not dripping.

Vinegar has an unpleasant smell and if used in the pipes and u-bend it may temporarily keep them away. It can sting and would be unpleasant for the rat. Any strong smell may be enough to deter a rodent as it will make them wary that something has changed in the environment.
Mice dislike strong smells like peppermint oil, cayenne pepper, clove oil, chili powder, cinnamon sticks, dryer sheets, and bleach. Essential oils, chili powder, and cinnamon sticks work best when placed near entry points, baseboards, closets, and food sources.
Noises you are likely to hear include scratching, squeaking, gnawing and the sound of falling debris as they travel up and down a wall cavity. Sometimes you will get strong odours within a building from rat urine, droppings and the dead bodies of perished rodents, followed by a short-lived plague of flies!
