Ombré shading is a semi-permanent eyebrow styling technique that uses a small machine to place extremely thin dots of pigment into the skin, creating a soft-shaded brow pencil look. For most beauty lovers, leaning into your mirror to precisely fill in your eyebrows is the most stressful part of your routine.
LASTS LONGER: Results do vary based on lifestyle, skin type, health, preferences, etc., but a single ombré powder brows session, using high-quality pigments, can last on average 2-3 years.
The biggest difference between the two semi-permanent eyebrow styling techniques is how the pigment is deposited into the skin. Microblading uses a handheld tool to carve small cuts into the skin, whereas Ombre brows are done using a machine. The ombre powder technique is a bit less invasive than that of microblading.
Procedure is relatively pain free for the Ombre powder brows but can go up to moderate for Microblading. Some, feel a little bit of discomfort and some have gone through the process without the numbing cream with ease. If you prefer not to take a chance, we offer numbing cream to ALL CLIENTS!
Ombre Powder Brows is a form of tattooing, but it is different from the traditional method. It is a more modern method because it is surface work meaning it is on the epidermis layer of the skin.
You can not receive Ombre Shading if you are: Pregnant or nursing. Under 18 years old. Are currently using Accutane or have used Accutane within the past year.
To maintain the effects of this cosmetic treatment, we will ask you to temporarily stop plucking or threading your eyebrows. In general, we will recommend avoiding these activities for a few days after your appointment is complete.
On average, microblading lasts up to one and ombre brows can last for up to two years, although this can vary based skin type, skincare routine, etc. Those with oily skin may find that microblading fades much quicker on them, so may want to consider the ombre powder brow route.
Like any tattoo, your ombre brows will have a recovery period – in this case, approximately 2-3 weeks. During this time your brows may appear very pigmented and dark – don't fret! This effect will fade about 50% over the first week or so, settling into your desired color.
The front of the brow starts lighter, and as you move to the arch and tail, they get darker. The effects are semi-permanent but last longer than microblading.
Healing and Aftercare
For both the powdered ombré and combination brows, healing takes 2-3 weeks. For the first 3 days your brows will be very dark, and then they will start to scab. Unlike microblading that scabs in patches, powder brows scab in one big (or a few big) pieces.
After your initial microblading session, your skin should heal in 25 to 30 days. It'll likely feel tender and painful at first, but this will go away over time. Your brows will also darken and lighten before revealing their final color. It's normal for your skin to flake and peel as healing takes place.
You can apply as much makeup and other routine skin products as you'd like to the rest of your skin, but should be very cautious not to let any makeup or makeup removing products touch the skin around your newly microbladed brows.
Not on the brows for at least 7-10 days, but everywhere else is fine. Chemicals found in makeup and cleansers may alter the color of the pigment and affect the healing process. Please only follow what is on the aftercare hand-out given to you.
The procedure may have some peeling on or around the 3rd day. This is a NORMAL process of healing for some clients. DO NOT PICK or SCRATCH... picking/ scratching can cause scarring and loss of pigment. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off.
Immediately after the treatment your brow area is slightly irritated and this contributes to the appearance of a darker pigment color. When the irritation subsides after two or three days, the color will already start to appear softer. Also, there is excess pigment “trapped” near the surface of the skin.

The 1 round liner (1RL) needle is an advanced needle configuration that produces that most soft Ombre results. The 1 round liner needle deposits a single dot of pigment at a time. Often confused with microblading, which creates a natural hair strokes effect, ombre brows give more of a makeup look. But with a price point of £100+, mastering your own ombre brows at home means you don't have to wait for an appointment or apply for an overdraft.
It is possible to combine both techniques as one can be used at the beginning of the brow and the other can be used on the ends. Healy explains, "For those short little vertical lines, microblading might look good on the front and ombré would look good on the tail.
Once the brows are completely filled in they will appear to be very defined and dark. This will not be the final look, so don't freak out! It's important to know that the color will slowly fade (2 shades lighter) and “shrink” throughout the healing process (can take up to 30 days).
Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your eyebrow area during the first 7 days after your procedure. Please wash your face carefully around the eyebrow without getting water on the treated area. During the shower, keep your face away from the shower head or take a bath.
