A thread lift is a type of procedure wherein temporary sutures are used to produce a subtle but visible "lift" in the skin. Instead of removing the patient's loose facial skin surgically, the cosmetic surgeon simply suspends it by stitching up portions of it.
While both options have the same goal of re-suspending your sagging jowls, the only benefits that PDO thread lift offer are avoidance of cutting your skin and perhaps less expensive. Because there's no cutting, the recovery might be quicker than a mini facelift.
Complications: Although thread lift is considered minimally invasive, some sutures and cuts are required. There is still a risk of complications such as bruising, thread breakage, thread extrusion, fever, and infection.
Results from a thread lift aren't meant to be permanent. Successful effects typically last from 1 to 3 years. Like other dissolvable dermal fillers, such as Botox, the threads used in the procedure will eventually be absorbed by the tissue underneath your skin. After a thread lift, you can resume your normal routine.
A study published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) confirms PDO thread lifts do work, stating thread lifts indisputably lift and shape facial soft tissues. Another study published by the NIH indicates this therapy yields around a 90 percent success rate.
Fortunately, because the threads placed under the skin during a thread lift are so small, the patient will not feel any of this happening. Most people cannot feel their sutures at all once the skin has healed around them.
When the sutures begin to dissolve, it is likely you will notice the gradual return of sagging features. However, there is evidence to support that collagen is produced in the tissues surrounding the threads, which can lead to a longer lasting effect.
Threads are an excellent option in correcting certain problem areas, especially if there is some laxity, drooping, or sagging of skin. On the other hand, fillers are designed to address the fine lines you want gone (or at least reduced in appearance).
Many of our clients love PDO Threads AND Botox, it just depends on your beauty goals and preferences. In short, Botox is a phenomenal choice for those looking to treat fine lines and prevent future wrinkles. PDO Threads may be a better choice if you have deeper wrinkles and are searching for more intense results.
Thread lift is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation technique that will lift and tighten sagging skin. It's a minor procedure that doesn't require general anesthesia.
The thread lift is a minimally invasive alternative to a facelift. It combines a medical-grade threading material and the physical “pulling” or “lifting” of the skin to tighten the thread and reduce wrinkles. Targeted areas can include the jowls, jaw line, brow line, under eye area, forehead and cheeks.
If you're bothered by low-hanging jowls but aren't ready for surgery, a polydioxanone (PDO) thread lift might be the solution you need. At Yco Facial Plastic Surgery, our skilled surgeon Mario Yco, MD, provides PDO thread lifts, which can revitalize your facial aesthetic without the risks of surgery. Dr.
Absolutely. Jowls are one of the primary indications of thread lifting and often times our very first course of action when treating the jowls, and we'll get into the details as to why that's the case, but there are a number of treatment options out there that can effectively tighten the area.
In general, good candidates for mini facelifts are men and women in their mid to late 40s up to 60s or 70s. There is not a cut-off age, per se, but instead we look at one's overall health, mobility, and treatment goals.
Because a mini facelift is less invasive than a full facelift, most patients report feeling minimal pain and discomfort following their surgery. It is common to experience some slight bruising and swelling. However, these issues should dissipate within a few weeks.
Because it relies on your body to increase collagen and elastin production to lift and tighten the skin, the results look completely natural. You'll have an improved appearance, but you won't look as though you had some type of surgical procedure done to achieve younger-looking skin.
As with any non-surgical treatment which requires the use of needles to inject substances in to the deeper layers of the skin, there may be some slight discomfort, tugging and pulling sensations, during a PDO thread-lifting procedure; however, with the use of highly-effective topical anaesthetic creams and the more ...
This treatment can benefit your appearance in two ways. The first is that PDO threads will physically lift your skin into a tighter position when the threads are inserted into the sub-dermal layers of the skin. The physical lift will reduce sagging skin and help you achieve a younger appearance.
To ensure the best results, there are several things you must avoid after a PDO thread lift. These include sleeping on your stomach or side, wearing makeup, drinking alcohol, making extreme facial expressions, and receiving facials and facial massages.
By the end of week 1, I could give a pretty good smile but I was still cautious but by the end of 2 weeks, I was able to smile and laugh as normal. Mineral make-up may be applied gently after 24 hours. A stinging or “pulling” pain or discomfort is normal.
You will probably see some initial firming and lifting right after your procedure, with your thread lift face results continuing to take shape over the next three weeks or so. As your body begins to naturally generate collagen, your tightened, lifted outcomes should continue to improve for the next few months.
PDO threads have been around the longest of the three and have been used in surgeries since the 1980s. They're made from a colorless polyester that breaks down in your body after about 6 months.
Sleep on your side
Sleeping on your side, or even on your stomach, results in pressure on your face. You need to avoid this for about a week after your thread lift procedure. Try to sleep on your back with your head propped up on a pillow to minimize swelling after a thread lift.
A total of five cases of incomplete facial paralysis (2.6%) were reported immediately after thread lifting. In three of the cases, the unilateral eyebrows were weakened, and the temporal branch of the facial nerve was damaged.
Do not take a shower or wash your hair for the first 24 hours. Avoid hot showers for one week. When washing face after 24 hours, gently wash the required area with cleanser (recommended by your injector) and water. It is fine to shampoo and wash over the entry point and to towel off the area.
