This releases a chemical called melanin, which causes the skin to tan. However, while sunlight contains a mix of UVA and UVB radiation, sunbeds produce mainly UVA radiation, which penetrates deeper into your skin. It is estimated that 20 minutes on a sunbed can be equivalent to approximately four hours in the sun.
MYTH #5: 20 minutes in a tanning bed is equivalent to 20 minutes in the sun… no big deal! 20 minutes of exposure in a tanning bed may equal up to two hours spent on the beach under the hot mid-day sun without protection.
This means that to achieve the same results as being in the sun, you won't need to be in the sunbed for nearly as long. A good example of just how different the results are taking into account that ten minutes in a sunbed compares to about 2 hours in direct sunlight.
Step 2: Limit Unprotected Sunbathing to 20 Minutes a Day
But excessive sun exposure will cause damage. You can be in the sun, without sunscreen, for up to 20 minutes a day. After 20 minutes, you must apply sunscreen. Be generous and reapply after swimming or sweating profusely.
LEVEL 5 sunbeds offer the following:
12 – 15 minute tanning session. 1000w high-pressure client-controlled facial and shoulder lamps.
Level 1 tanning beds are the basic beds, with tanning times that are long but usually priced low. A Level 1 tanning bed is an economic option, but they produce high levels of UVB rays, the rays that can cause sunburn if not used properly.
Usually, the skin will not tan after the first session, and the results only become visible after 3-5 sunbed tanning sessions. These sessions allow the skin to oxidize its melanin, darken the cells, and produce a tan. Lighter skin types may need a few extra sessions for the tan to deepen.
If you have fair or sensitive skin, your first tanning time will most likely not exceed 6 or 7 minutes. If you have a base tan or darker skin, your tanning time can be as long as 20 minutes.
You are likely to see results very quickly, therefore you will not need to spend as much time on the sunbed to get results. Do not spend more than a total of 10 minutes in any one session.
So taking a shower shortly after applying a bronzer or any spray tanning treatment will fade the artificial tan away. In fact, immediate showering after tanning may result in poor results and uneven streaking.
Depending on the store you can go on for 4-14 minutes or 8-20 minutes. We recommend if it is your first time start of low and build up your minutes. Little and often is recommended until you reach your desired colour then you can leave a longer time frame between your sessions.
It's best to shower, shave and exfoliate a day or two before your tanning session.
Moderate tanning of 2-3 sessions a week is OK for everyone else but ensure you rest the skin for a minimum of 24 hours between each session and at least 48 hours for skin type 2. The European Standard advises not to exceed 60 sessions per annum.
And Yes, you can take your phone in the sunbed. I know loads of people that go on them frequently and take there phones every time and they haven't had any problems.
Your face skin has relatively less melanin present because of the excess of sebaceous glands located there. It might delay the process of getting a natural tan on your face from the UV radiation of the sun.
Wear comfortable outerwear. Tanning salons do not allow for much preparation time before and after your tanning session, so choose clothing that you can get in and out of quickly and comfortably. Wear nothing in the tanning bed.
Level 6 offers the most intense radiation, faster results, and the deepest or darkest skin tan. This skin type can burn but usually tans easily. This sunbed is a perfect bed for building and maintaining a dark tan!
Lower level beds penetrate the skin on a deeper level and pull melanin to the surface of your skin. While 4-6, referred to as our “Higher Level” beds, tan on the surface level of your skin. They are great for getting you a dark color quickly because they tan the melanin found at the surface of your skin.
Level 1 Tanning Bed:
Level 1 tanning beds are the most basic tanning beds that take longer to tan. However, the price of the Level 1 tanning bed is low. Since it's a low-level tanning bed, it emits UVB rays that can cause sunburn. So, always make sure you use the tanning bed correctly.
Tanning after a workout is preferable; the heat from the sun or tanning bed will help you relax and feel more at ease. It is similar to how a sauna helps you unwind after a good workout. Just make sure that you keep yourself hydrated and that you cool off enough before you catch those rays.
Choose a tanning lotion:
While tanning lotions aren't always necessary when using a tanning bed, it is actually highly recommended for several reasons. It will help your skin to tan better, faster, and extend your tan, which ultimately means less time under the UV light.
