Lip fillers aren't permanent. They slowly wear away over time, usually 12 to 18 months after you get them, depending on your metabolism. You may need routine touch-up treatments to maintain your desired volume.

Lip fillers are temporary

Because dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring skin compound, they are naturally dissolved by your body over a period of 6 – 18 months. This process uses a compound called hyaluronidase.
If you believe that your filler has migrated, then don't panic, as it can be treated. The beauty of modern-day filler is that it is semi-permanent, so over time your body will naturally break down and metabolise the substance.
So while the body naturally breaks them down over time, there is a way to speed up the process: Injections of hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase is what the body produces naturally to break down fillers, so by injecting more, it allows the lips to regain natural shape quicker, usually going down within 3-4 days.
That really depends on what filler was used. Most of the time, HA based fillers (Juvederm, Restylane ) last anywhere from 6 to 18 months. In some individuals, they last a bit shorter or longer. Some other fillers such as Sculptra can last 2 years, but usually that is not a first choice for lip augmentation.
You'll see immediate results with lip fillers, but once the swelling goes down, the results will not look quite as pronounced. It typically takes about 4 weeks for the filler to settle in and achieve the final, desired look. The results will typically last about 6 months.

When wrinkles begin to appear

The most important thing you need to realize is that lip fillers don't just affect the size of your lips; it can completely alter the dimensions of your smile, which is something a lot of people don't realize and something that isn't mentioned enough.
As you may be aware, dermal fillers are an excellent way to provide a temporary fix for lines and wrinkles on the face. However, recent studies indicate that repeated, long-term use of deep tissue facial fillers can cause permanent damage or harm the lymphatic system in your face.

While the filler itself doesn't stay in your system, its effects last a lifetime. Hyaluronic acid, on the other hand, is non-permanent. Composed of a sugar molecule which is also produced naturally in the body, it generally dissolves and is excreted by the body in six to nine months.
Injection Location and Movement
Talking, eating, breathing, kissing – you name it, the lips are involved, which is why fillers in the lips break down much faster than those in, say, the tear troughs.
Some dermal fillers have been studied to last close to two years. The three fillers that tend to last the longest are Restylane Lyft, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Refyne, Juvederm, Voluma, Radiesse, and Sculptra. Restylane Defyne is built for balance and used in the nasal labial folds and marionette lines.
Massage can encourage the filler to be broken up by the body more quickly. But in practice this still takes a long time (like weeks of daily vigorous massage) to improve the outcome.
Results depend on which filler was originally used and how much it has built up over time – sometimes more than one session of hyaluronidase may be needed. It's possible to partially dissolve filler without dissolving all of it, if a simple adjustment is what you need to soften your look.
If your lip fillers have migrated, it will almost always be noticeable visually. This can be presented in many ways; from a puffy upper lip, a lack of a defined border between the lip edge and above and/or below the lip border.
Whilst migration is mainly spoken about in terms of lip fillers, migration can also happen anywhere that filler is injected. “But more patients are looking to dissolve migrated filler, especially when it comes to their lips,” says Dr.
