Type 1: Straight This usually means that your strands fall in a straight way from root to tip, although you may still experience the odd bend. Type 1 hair can be further split into three categories. The first is 1A, which refers to fine straight hair that feels soft and smooth, but also a little thin.

Type 1: Straight hair

A “Grade 1 Haircut” is about 1/8 of an inch, which is a little longer than a number zero. The #1 guard is still ideal for buzz cuts, or you can use it to taper or fade from different numbers. However, we do not recommend a number 1 cut if you don't want your scalp to show.

Most Afro hair falls into one of the type 4 categories, but it's also possible to have a different hair type: Type 1A-1C — Straight hair. Type 2A-2C — Wavy hair. Type 3A-3C — Curly hair.
The Wavy Hair Type
It falls right in that sweet spot between straight and curly. While wavy hair is less likely to get excessive oil build up like straight hair, it is more prone to frizz. But a natural wave is actually a very desirable look with an amazing amount of natural volume and texture.

Simple styles are winners for type 1A hair. “All one length, precision cuts are best suited for this kind of hair,” Saviano says. “Bangs with face-framing also work without adding crown layers, because it would only make the hair thinner looking. Preferably collarbone length is always a safe place to start.”
A person with 2A hair has the loosest waves out of all wavy hair types, so much so that it can appear straight at the roots with a slight wave or curl definition through the length. 2A hair differs from straight hair since the 2A hair type has subtle bends along the shaft and at the ends.
Brunette hair is often seen as the most attractive by both men and women. Blonde hair is associated with youth and fun, making it appealing to younger audiences. Red hair has a unique charm that many find attractive, though it is less common.
If the above applies to you, congratulations - you have 4C hair. Although this hair type is the weakest for breakage and dryness, the incredible volume allows for a range of hairstyles that will last for days, as well as holding protective hairstyles for months.
An oval face is considered one of the best attractive face shapes for women, but unfortunately not for men. However, type 1 hair can hold curls or waves for extended periods only by using styling tools or products. So while type 1 hair can have a slight wave or bend, it is not considered to be a naturally curly hair type.

Differences between the 1 and 1b hair colors
They're both shades of black, but jet-black hair has cooler, blue undertones, while 1b has warmer, brown undertones.
