"Shaving off the tail partially will give you a shorter brow that can look unnatural," she says. "And the proportions of your brows — to your eyes, to your face shape — will change everything." That said, shaving off the tail end can have its upsides, depending on your natural brow shape.
Since brows help prevent dust, debris, and sweat from entering your eyes, shaving them off completely can make it easier for these materials to come into contact with your eyes. You run the risk of nicking or cutting sensitive skin in your brow area.
There's hope for overplucked eyebrows. “While it depends on many factors, including the tweezers you use, how often you pluck and how traumatic it is for your hair, you won't be stuck with thin eyebrows forever,” says dermatologist Shilpi Khetarpal, MD. “Most of the time, they grow back.”
"If not shaved with proper technique, shaving can pull at the hairs and irritate the follicles, leading to red razor bumps," Shainhouse notes. She also warns of additional aesthetic issues if you continuously shave your brows.
Interestingly, there's a generation of beauty mavericks who've opted to shave their eyebrows off completely. There are many reasons they do this: to boost self-confidence, to rebel against the ubiquitous bold-brow trend, to create a blank canvas for experimenting with daring and dazzling makeup looks, to name a few.
Keep plucking your eyebrows and they won't grow back,” cautions Dina Basman of Brow Design By Dina. Shaving your brows to get rid of the strays is another option.  “However shaving can be rather short-lived.  Shaving only takes hair even with the skin.
Eyebrow slits are the intentionally shaved gaps in the eyebrows, they are a style choice or form of self-expression. The look has its history in hip-hop culture, with MC Big Daddy Kane, one of the original wearers back in the 80s.
“The time-friendliest way to fix an over-plucked brow is to use a brow pomade to fill in the hollow and sparse areas of the brow,” says Lerma, who recommends using this brow pomade from Anastasia Beverly Hills to underline the brow and lightly feather in a shape that mimics the natural appearance of hair growth.
Eyebrow transplants are a procedure where a cosmetic surgeon takes a graft of hair (plug). The surgeon takes the graft with both the hair and its roots (follicle) and moves it to the eyebrow area. The hair graft is usually removed from the nape of your neck or the area around your ear.
Your brows can take anywhere from 8-16 weeks to grow back in fully, depending on your age and metabolism. That being said, it should be a bit faster when you shave, because you just cut the hair, not the follicle.
If your brows are mostly gray, dyeing them is the best fix. Ask your stylist if your salon offers the service (it's often free when you get your hair colored), or have it done at a spa. "Even if the hair on your head is silver or gray hair, I suggest dyeing brows light brown," says Petrescu.
If one or both eyebrows are thinning, it could be due to infection, skin conditions, hormonal changes, or an overactive immune system. Nutritional deficiencies, physical trauma, or emotional stress can also cause diminishing brows .
You can talk with a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon about hair grafts that target your eyebrows. These types of grafts use your existing hair follicles to fill in thin spots and encourage regrowth.
There's a reason for his unusual right eyebrow.
The pop singer is no poser: There's a story behind the brow. Puth tweeted that when he was two years old, a dog bit him and left him nearly dead from head trauma. Puth survived, but the incident left his eyebrow permanently scarred.
The eyebrow slit is a remnant of getting into a fight. If you look back at old gangster movies, you can see where actors would shave off or put splits in their brows to mimic the look of being in a fight. While the trend may have started back in the 80s, it's still very popular and present in people's style today.
No — shaving hair doesn't change its thickness, color or rate of growth. Shaving facial or body hair gives the hair a blunt tip. The tip might feel coarse or "stubbly" for a time as it grows out. During this phase, the hair might be more noticeable and perhaps appear darker or thicker.
What to Do with Greying Eyebrows. Ariane points out that the “grey” hairs are actually white. When they start to appear in your eyebrows, her first piece of advice is not to pluck them.
Just like one finds grey hairs on the head upon ageing, appearance of grey hair on the eyebrows is also a sign of ageing/premature ageing. While for some, these signs start showing up in the 40's or 50's, some folks encounter the problem of grey hair on eyebrows in their 30's.
Unfortunately, there's little to no evidence that any of the ingredients in Vaseline, which is a brand name for petroleum jelly, can grow thicker or fuller eyebrows. However, Vaseline is very moisturizing and may actually help eyebrows look fuller and thick, even if they're actually growing at the same rate.
There may be a reason your eyebrow hairs aren't growing back. If you over-plucked too often or too hard, you could trigger your eyebrow to react to the plucking as trauma. Trauma to the follicle will mean your eyebrows won't grow back–at least not for now, because they're resting.
Eyebrow serums don't actually help eyebrows grow any thicker or faster, they just have moisturizing and strengthening ingredients. So if you're after a way to keep your existing eyebrows healthy and add a little coat of thickness from the oils in the serum, yup, they'll work great.
According to Dr. Jaliman, many growth serums that are marketed for eyelashes can be used on eyebrows, too, and are just as effective there. "They contain very similar ingredients that add fullness and promote some new growth," she says.
