Lips may get more swelling on one side than on the other side. Because of this, patients may notice a little bit of asymmetry or unevenness. I often tell my patients to wait 10 days or so, before I would re-see them relating to this.
Swelling – After undergoing fillers, it is normal for the lips area to look uneven due to swelling. This is normal and does not necessarily mean that something has gone wrong. It is also important to note that the lips have a lot of nerve endings and are more sensitive than other areas of the body.
Many people have asymmetrical lips that are either shorter or larger on one side or have double curves. Oftentimes, this problem is caused by the positioning of the teeth and can be corrected with cosmetic dental procedures.
Lip filler may cause the treatment area to feel swollen, hard, or lumpy at first, but this is all part of the healing process, and the fillers will soften and settle over time.
It can take up to 2 weeks for the adverse events to resolve and for your fillers to be settled into your lip tissue. If by then you are unhappy with your results or it is still uneven, you should consult with your injector to try and even them out.
The filler can take several weeks to soften and settle into your skin. This means that patients won't see the ultimate results of their treatment immediately. Although individual results will vary, many people achieve the full effect within two weeks after receiving their injections.
The Surgical Solution For Correcting Uneven Lips
There are both surgical and nonsurgical procedures to treat uneven lips. A surgical procedure offers the most significant results. For lips, this procedure is known as a lip lift. A lip lift involves making an incision and reshaping the lips to alter their look.
Patients tend to report that lip swelling is the worst the first day after their injection, particularly in the morning. Swelling should go down within 2–3 days after your lip filler treatment, and should subside completely within 2 weeks post-treatment.
Lumps and bumps are common after lip filler injections. The good news is that they can be effectively treated with gentle massage after initial swelling subsides.

Thank you for your question, Massaging your face will not cause your fillers to disappear and massaging a lot may interfere with your final results. However, if you are unhappy with your filler/Botox results after two weeks, you can have the fillers dissolved with hyaluronidase.
Many of these videos recommend massaging your treatment area immediately following your injection—but this can be harmful. In some cases, we recommend our patients massage their fillers following treatment to smooth them out below the skin; however, too much massage too soon may cause the filler to migrate slightly.
Try to avoid salty foods for a few days after getting a filler treatment to avoid swelling. Also stay well hydrated by drinking plenty of water. This will flush out the salt from your system, which will in turn reduce the risk of swelling.
Do not massage your lips for 24 to 48 hours after the treatment. Once your swelling subsides down, you can gently massage your lips with light pressure.
You may experience considerable swelling during the first two days of getting a lip filler injection. However, this swelling should subside by the fourth day. The Results Improve Over Time
Because these injections stimulate your body's production of collagen and elastin, the final results of treatment won't be seen for several weeks. Even as the hyaluronic acid is processed by your body, healthy collagen and elastin grow at a more significant rate.
Swelling, even asymmetric swelling is normal after filler injections. One area may have needed more filler than another (we are all asymmetric to begin with and part of treatment is trying to increase symmetry) or you may have slept on one side causing more swelling to settle there.
If your lips are uneven, it may be due to your facial muscles being underdeveloped or weak. This could be the result of a condition such as Lyme disease, or it could be present from birth.
