The bottom line. Botox Cosmetic and Jeuveau both work well at improving the look of wrinkles, but Botox is approved to treat more types of wrinkles than Jeuveau. Both can cause mild side effects, and they should both be administered by a trained healthcare professional in a medical setting.
Jeuveau, however, was formulated for aesthetic use only. It's the only botulinum injectable on the market that is designed to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Also, several studies have shown that Jeuveau may give longer-lasting results than Botox. Most patients enjoy beautiful results for three to four months.
The results of Jeuveau can last anywhere from five to six months. This, again, contrasts with alternative neuromodulators that can only offer results lasting between three and four months at most. However, as with any anti-aging treatment, the durability of the treatment results varies from person to person.
The number of units vary by injector and site of injection, said Dr Jonathan Weiss, dermatologist, Gwinnett Dermatology, Snellville, Georgia. Glabellar lines usually require 15–25 units, whereas the forehead usually requires 10–25 units, Weiss said.
How Quickly Does Jeuveau Work? After your first session of Jeuveau, you can expect to see results in about two to ten days. Of course, the full results will vary from person to person, as with any cosmetic treatment.
BOTOX® usually costs between $10 and $20 per unit, depending on where you're getting your injections and how qualified your injector is. Jeuveau is expected to cost 20-30% less or about $8 to $16 per unit.
These neurotoxins are successful at paralyzing the muscles in the face to smooth them out and make the patient look younger. The drugs are injected into the face. It is a non-invasive and safe procedure that is widely used to treat wrinkles. Since Jeuveau® has been approved by the FDA it is completely safe to use.
Caution should be used when JEUVEAU treatment is used in patients who have marked facial asymmetry, ptosis, excessive dermatochalasis, deep dermal scarring, thick sebaceous skin or when subjects do not respond to 20 Units of botulinum toxin (e.g. the inability to substantially lessen glabellar lines even by physically ...
Jeuveau injections should be spaced at least 3 months apart. The effects of a Jeuveau injection are temporary. Your symptoms may return completely within 3 months. After repeat injections, it may take less and less time before your symptoms return, especially if your body develops antibodies to the botulinum toxin.
Jeuveau is FDA-approved on label for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows. Similar to Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, Jeuveau can be injected “off-label” by skilled physicians to treat unwanted wrinkles and overactive muscles over many areas of the face and neck.
Safety: both products have excellent safety records
While Jeuveau is the new kid on the block, botulinum toxin type A has been used safely for aesthetic patients for nearly 30 years (yes, beginning with Botox).
Dysport is more diluted than Botox. The difference in concentration typically occurs because Dysport uses smaller protein molecules to induce muscle relaxation. These smaller proteins are less likely to be broken down by antibodies, making the results of Dysport injections quite desirable for patients.
The FDA approved JEUVEAU based on evidence from two clinical trials (Trial 1/NCT02334423 and Trial 2/NCT02334436) of 654 adult patients with moderate to severe glabellar lines (wrinkles between the eyebrows).
“Bunny lines” refer to the fine lines that appear on either side of your nose when you wrinkle it. Like many types of facial wrinkles, bunny lines are caused by repeating certain facial expressions. These lines can be a natural part of growing older, and some people find them charming.
If you have a dimple in your chin, or the effect of what looks like an "orange peel" or small craters, then you have what we call a pebbled chin. They are caused when the mentalis muscle, together with the jaw bone, results in hyperactivity or is too large.
Lip wrinkles, which are sometimes called lip lines, lipstick lines, or smoker's lines, are the little vertical lines that form on the lips of older adults. These lines are notoriously difficult to conceal. Getting rid of your lip lines, rather than trying to cover them up, can easily take 10 years off your face.
As a premium brand, the list price is $610 per 100-unit vial.
JEUVEAU is supplied in a single-dose 100 Unit vial.

Why does Botox eventually stop working? Your body makes new neurotransmitters all the time, so the “blocking” effect of Botox gradually wears off as these chemicals start circulating in your body again. The muscles are no longer inhibited.
There is no definite age when you should start BOTOX®—it's more about the state of your skin, and everyone's timeline is different. For wrinkle treatments, it's best to start when you notice forehead lines, frown lines, or crow's feet even when your expression is neutral.
The Bottom Line. BOTOX, Dysport, Xeomin and Jeuveau are all injections involving BTX. The difference between them lies in their specific formulation of BTX. BOTOX uses onabotulinumtoxinA; Dysport uses abobotulinumtoxinA; Xeomin uses incobotulinumtoxinA; and Jeuveau uses botulinum toxin type A.
