So you hate your Botox and/or dermal filler––it's okay, it happens, no need to panic! The beauty behind these non-invasive cosmetic procedures is that they're not permanent.
So while the body naturally breaks them down over time, there is a way to speed up the process: Injections of hyaluronidase. Hyaluronidase is what the body produces naturally to break down fillers, so by injecting more, it allows the lips to regain natural shape quicker, usually going down within 3-4 days.
If, at that point, you're still unhappy, your injector can add or subtract filler, to help solve your specific problem. If you feel that you're overfilled or have too much HA in a certain spot, your provider can partially dissolve the gel with a small amount of the enzyme hyaluronidase.
You may be wondering if lip fillers hurt, or whether you can feel them in your lips after the augmentation procedure. Simply put, when it's done right, you shouldn't feel anything but smoother, more supple lips.
You are not allowed to smile for a few days after a lip filler. Facial expressions such as smiling, laughing, or frowning should have zero impact on your lip filler. It is actually better for you to smile and gently massage your lips, to help spread the product and produce a more natural end-result.
The Results Improve Over Time
Because these injections stimulate your body's production of collagen and elastin, the final results of treatment won't be seen for several weeks. Even as the hyaluronic acid is processed by your body, healthy collagen and elastin grow at a more significant rate.
You'll see immediate results with lip fillers, but once the swelling goes down, the results will not look quite as pronounced. It typically takes about 4 weeks for the filler to settle in and achieve the final, desired look. The results will typically last about 6 months.
Patients often notice that their lips feel lumpy, bumpy, and/or overly inflated following lip filler injections. This is a normal phenomenon and is to be expected. Over the next 14 days, as the fillers settle and soften, the lips should become much smoother and more even.
When the upper lip is equal to or begins to exceed the volume of the lower, the augmentation starts to look fake. Once that ratio is breached, the result degrades rapidly, even with minor volume additions.
Bad lip fillers will be easily noticeable, and this is why the treatment has become synonymous with unnatural-looking results. 'Good' lip filler results aren't that detectable, because they look so natural!
Hyaluronic acid fillers, such as Juvéderm products (including VOLUMA and VOLBELLA), Restylane products, and Belotero, can be partially or completely removed with an enzyme called hyaluronidase.
Answer: Dissolving Juvederm can be done at anytime, but usually wait at least a week after injection. Using hyaluronidase to dissolve Juvederm can be done at anytime. The results of a treatment take about 7-10 days to fully appreciate because Juvederm tends to spread a little. I'd wait, but it's up to you.
DON'T: massage your lips.
Massaging freshly injected lips risks moving the filler around causing the possibility of desportation and undesirable results.
Fillers come in pre-filled syringes, usually with 1 mL per syringe. To avoid duck lips, stick to one syringe per treatment. Honestly, some times we won't even use the whole syringe to avoid the risk of duck lips.
Although extremely rare, dermal fillers are able to migrate within the skin if consistent and adequate pressure is applied to them. For this reason, we advise patients not to get a facial, massage (on the treated skin), or microdermabrasion for the first two weeks following their filler injections.
The answer is Yes. Your swelling will subside in a few days and the hardness that you are experiencing with soften and smooth out. You can take bromelain for the swelling and continue to ice throughout the rest of the day today.
A Cosmetic Injector's Answer:
Over the next six to eight months after your lip filler is injected, your lips will slowly decrease in size and fade back to their original shape. The filler will metabolize fairly evenly, so you should never experience a malformed appearance.
They are injecting too much into the white roll of the lip, which is on the skin side. It is common when you inject from the skin side (which is more comfortable) and with lighter bodied fillers. Every picture I have seen of this lip augmentation (even on their ads), they are overfilling the skin side.
Because your lips will retain their natural texture and softness a few days after injected, your fillers cannot be felt by you or your partner when kissing!
Once the swelling has resolved, lips after filler injections generally don't feel any different than they did before, not even when you're kissing. Lips are still soft and natural. The person you are kissing won't know the difference either.
You can get a temporary loss of sensation with the injection that may last several hours. Following the lip filler injection you may be able to feel the filler in the lips but it should not effect anything significantly.

Patients tend to report that lip swelling is the worst the first day after their injection, particularly in the morning. Swelling should go down within 2–3 days after your lip filler treatment, and should subside completely within 2 weeks post-treatment.
You should NEVER leave a tip for your PA/NP or nurse injector. Injectables are medications, just like a blood pressure pill or a thyroid medication.
