Once you've had the surgery, your hair will be covered in dressings and you need to make sure to leave these alone. You won't be able to wash your hair during this period, as you'll need to spray saline every 30-45 minutes to ensure that the wounds are kept clean.
There are certain things that should be avoided during these few days as they provide a risk post hair transplant, such as swimming, drinking alcohol, smoking, high-impact exercise and more. It is also crucial you keep your scalp well hydrated during this period with regular saline sprays.
Day 3. Take your medication as directed. You can now stop using the spray bottle and gently wash the recipient area with the mild shampoo in your aftercare bag. Wet your head with a cup or bowl of room-temperature water or with a gentle stream of water from the shower.

Saline is a mixture of salt and water. A normal saline solution is called normal because its salt concentration is similar to tears, blood and other body fluids (0.9% saline). It is also called isotonic solution.
For the first 7 days following your hair transplant procedure it is best to keep your head elevated using several pillows, a neck pillow or even sleeping in a reclined chair to prevent the build-up of swelling. After these 7 days you will be able to return to sleeping normally as any swelling should be resolved.
Spray your scalp every 2 hours while awake with the bottle provided you at the end of your procedure (you will go home with a spray bottle from the office filled with sterile saline). Refill the bottle with tap water and continue spraying your scalp for three days. This is to keep grafts moist.
A saline solution designed for aftercare contains around 0.9% salt content and has the direct purpose of preventing infection on the scalp. Saline solution is not the same as salt water, and will not harm your hair.
Don't Consume Too Much Salt
A high salt intake will lead to excessive water retention, which boosts swelling, which naturally you want to avoid. So, following the hair transplant, plan meals that are low in the stuff, at least for a few days.
Minoxidil (5% or 2%) - spray or foam
Used for minimizing hair loss of native hairs and speeding up the regrowth of transplanted grafts. Minoxidil can be used 1 month after the transplant operation, when the recipient and donor areas are completely healed.
Even if your head is itchy, it's important to avoid scratching your scalp or rubbing it until your grafts are securely in place. It usually takes about 14 days after your transplant for your grafts to settle in [3].
Although the average waiting time for wearing a hat is considered to be around a week, we recommend you wait for at least three weeks to a month to prevent any harm to the newly transplanted hair follicles. The doctor would provide you with the correct time for wearing a hat at the time of consultation post-procedure.
