Generally speaking, dermatologists say purging should be over within four to six weeks of starting a new skin care regimen. If your purge lasts longer than six weeks, consult your dermatologist. It could be that you need to adjust the dosage and/or frequency of application.
After a HydraFacial, which typically takes just 30 minutes or less, some redness may occur. This is often the only side effect of a HydraFacial and is typically mild and resolves quickly on its own. If desired, patients can apply makeup after HydraFacial treatment to conceal any redness.

Keep Your Face Dry
You should not wash your face for about six hours after your treatment. You should also avoid taking a shower or engaging in intense exercise that will cause you to sweat. Keeping your face dry during this time will protect your skin and allow you to receive optimal results.
HydraFacial is not known to cause broken capillaries. Since HydraFacial does not involve lasers or other tools that can burst blood vessels, it cannot cause broken capillaries.
Do not wax or use depilatories for at least 48 hours after the treatment. Don't use any medium or deep chemical peels or laser treatments for at least two weeks after your facial treatment. Don't use any exfoliating treatments, like glycolic acid or enzymes, for at least 48 hours after the treatment.
While this may vary from person to person, you can expect the results of your HydraFacial to last for at least 7 days. In many cases, those results will last much longer. If you do notice that the results of your facial have started to fade, you can always have an additional treatment to maintain those results.
If your acne is related to trapped dirt, oil, and dead skin, a facial may be the successful treatment you'll need to stop or minimize breakouts. If you have blackheads, whiteheads or other pore-clogging issues, during a facial treatment, the esthetician does extractions by hand.
Why do some people break out directly following a facial? During a facial, skin is well stimulated and much of what's below the surface is encouraged to come up and out. If extractions are not done well then pores and pimples may have left over debris that come to a head in the following days.
Yes we recommend that you discontinue retinol and related products 3 days before your Hydrafacial. You should also avoid any glycolic or other home-based peel for the same amount of time. If you are using these products please speak with our staff for specific guidance several days before your Hydrafacial.
