"This is one of my favorite drugstore moisturizers. It's lightweight and oil-free, and I like that it's formulated with hyaluronic acid and ceramides, which holds moisture and restores the skin's barrier," Peredo tells InStyle. "Specifically, ceramides can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Developed with dermatologists, CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Face Cream Serum for Fine Lines and Wrinkles is designed to help diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also helping to repair the protective skin barrier with 3 essential ceramides (1, 3 and 6-II).
This night cream is formulated with Encapsulated Retinol Technology, which can help to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, fade dark spots, improve uneven skin tone, restore skin firmness, and shrink the appearance of enlarged pores.
This product could be a good option if you're looking for a soothing nighttime moisturizer. However, if you're looking for a nighttime moisturizer that not only keeps your skin soft and smooth, but also provides anti-aging benefits, we'd recommend looking for a product that contains retinol.
Compared to the CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM, it's slightly thicker and felt a little richer. However, the two products contain many of the same ingredients (including three types of ceramides, except listed in a different order).
Once it's dried the skin has a super soft and velvety-feeling. It's fragrance-free, but has a medicinal and clean scent. And although it is a “nighttime” moisturizer, it can be used during the day as well.
Cerave Facial Moisturising Lotion PM is a nightly moisturiser for normal to dry skin but personally I think it suits all skin types because its a very thin formula but intensely hydrating, thanks to the inclusion of hyaluronic acid.
Apply Moisture
Slathering on the aforementioned body lotion does help a bit as it “plumps up the skin and can minimize the slack appearance,” she says, adding that, for best results, you should look for formulas laced with ceramides and hyaluronic acid, which are extra plumping. Try CeraVe Daily Moisturizing Lotion.
These are products experts recommended to treat crepey skin.
"I really like the CeraVe moisturizing brand line, and I recommend the creams over lotions. One of my favorite moisturizers in the entire world, and one I recommend to patients every day, is the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream.
The formula contains biomimetic peptides that work to stimulate collagen production in order to reduce the appearance of fines lines and wrinkles. CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum is a facial serum formulated specifically for those with post-acne marks, uneven skin tone, and visible pores.
CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream is a non-comedogenic, anti-aging moisturizer with SPF and encapsulated retinol that is gradually released into your skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles without irritation.
CeraVe's retinol products are gentle enough to use every day. Whether you're wondering how to use retinol for acne, or looking to add an anti-aging serum to your skincare routine, or minimize the look of hyperpigmentation, we have a retinol formula just for you.
Best overall moisturizer for mature skin
When thinking about the best moisturizer for most people, Cerave came up a number of times. It's a basic, inexpensive option that contains good-for-skin ingredients like glycerin, ceramides, and hyaluronic acid — all of which help to hydrate the skin.
This moisturizer makes a great option for normal skin due to its lightweight and non-greasy texture and gentle, non-comedogenic formula that provides 24-hour hydration. At nighttime, opt for a moisturizer without sunscreen to support your skin's natural repair processes, such as CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion.
Waldorf, MD, director of laser and cosmetic dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital, recommends products with glycerin or hyaluronic acid to prevent or improve the appearance of crepey skin. These ingredients pull in and hold moisture so your skin stays hydrated and looks plump.
Stand with elbows at shoulder height and bent to 90 degrees, forearms parallel to the floor with 1 weight in each hand and palms facing down. Without moving your elbows, raise forearms perpendicular to the floor, palms now facing forward. Next, press the weights overhead, extending arms. Slowly reverse the move.
Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light.
Ultraviolet radiation, which speeds the natural aging process, is the primary cause of early wrinkling. Exposure to UV light breaks down your skin's connective tissue — collagen and elastin fibers, which lie in the deeper layer of skin (dermis).
Dr. Kassouf recommends retinol topical creams to help reduce that crepey look. Retinols help restore skin's elasticity and thicken collagen (which gives our skin its structure) as well as elastin (which gives our skin its stretch).
The product continues to work after it is applied, hydrating your skin all day in just one use. This system—along with our unique combination of skin-identical ceramides—helps replenish your skin's existing ceramides, relieves dry skin by reducing moisture loss, increases hydration and helps restore the skin barrier.
The answer is no, you don't need two different moisturizers, but it could be beneficial depending on your skin concerns. Here's what I do: I have normal skin that leans dry and sensitive in the winter. Right now considering it's August, I use the same lightweight cream moisturizer both morning and night.
The product doesn't have an expiration date. Our products have been tested to have at least a 3-year shelf life if unopened & stored at normal room temperature, during which they'll retain their integrity & perform as expected. We hope you enjoy the Hydrating Facial Cleanser!
I would recommend just one pump for the entire face application. After a full day of wear, my skin didn't look like it was in desperate need of hydration! CeraVe describes it as “Moisture throughout the day, while creating a protective barrier for your skin.” I'd say it was exactly as advertised.
