Hydrating Skincare Routine Adopting a skincare routine focused on hydration is essential for preventing and reducing dehydration lines. This includes using gentle cleansers that don't strip your skin, applying hydrating serums, and using night creams and masks designed to boost moisture levels.
Add Hydrating Skincare Ingredients to Your Routine

Layer your moisture
The best way to retain moisture is to layer proven hydrating ingredients on top of each other. Hyaluronic acid is a powerhouse ingredient that plumps skin, minimizes fine lines and reduces signs of dehydration – but it has to be applied correctly to see its full potential.
Keeping the skin hydrated is key, if they're due to dehydration. This means drinking lots of water every day, but also using multiple hydrating products. A hydrating toner, serum, and thicker moisturizer, along with spf every day.
Dehydration lines also come and go as your hydration level changes, while fine lines will stay unless you use products to reduce them.
For mild cases of dehydrated skin, it may only take a few days of consistent moisturizing and drinking plenty of water to see a significant improvement. However, more severe cases of dehydrated skin may take several weeks of consistent treatment to see an improvement in hydration levels.
Water continues to be the best choice of beverage to stay hydrated. It is recommended to drink a minimum of 1.5 liters of water daily. Avoid drinking beverages such as soft drinks, coffee and energy drinks which dehydrate you more than then hydrate you.
While complete reversal is challenging, you can improve the appearance of forehead wrinkles naturally through proper hydration, a healthy diet rich in antioxidants, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and facial exercises. However, results may be limited compared to medical treatments.
The bottom line
The fastest way to cure dehydration at home is to drink plenty of fluids. The best choice for rehydrating fast depends on what's causing the dehydration. Water is a great choice, in general.
For example, sports drinks, coconut water, and fruit juices are often considered valuable options to increase hydration, because they often pack a significant amount of electrolytes (sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium) that are effective for rehydration.
Moisturizing alone can improve the appearance of your skin. It temporarily plumps the skin, making lines and wrinkles less visible. Moisturizers are lotions, creams, gels and serums made of water, oils and other ingredients, such as proteins, waxes, glycerin, lactate and urea.
Apply a thick moisturizer or petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to your hands before bed. Then put a pair of cloth gloves, or even a pair of clean socks, on your hands. This allows the moisturizer to work as you sleep.
Consider Electrolyte-Rich Beverages
Low levels of sodium, potassium, and magnesium can prevent your body from retaining water effectively. Drinking an electrolyte-rich beverage, like coconut water, before bed can help balance your body's fluid levels overnight.
Botox for deep forehead wrinkles
Botox works best for dynamic wrinkles, which are lines that appear due to muscle movement (like frowning, squinting, or raising the eyebrows). It temporarily paralyzes the hyperactive frontalis muscle that causes these wrinkles, smoothing out the skin.
"In the short term, products like Frownies can help by reducing swelling and smoothing out the skin overnight," says Diana Ponsky, M.D., a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon based in Cleveland, Ohio. "However, they do not paralyze the muscles, so they don't have a long-term corrective effect."
In Your 20s
In your mid-to-late 20s, you may begin to notice pesky forehead wrinkles for the very first time. Your body loses collagen and elastin as you grow older—which means your skin struggles to bounce back into shape. You can usually treat very fine and superficial lines with a dedicated skincare routine.
Dehydration lines are often temporary and appear as fine, shallow lines on the skin's surface. They are a direct result of insufficient moisture and can be reversed once you are hydrated. On the other hand, true wrinkles are deeper, more permanent folds that we can soften or erase with Botox®.
While it may take weeks or months to notice a substantial difference from certain wellness changes — say, lifting weights and gaining muscle, or eating more healthy fats and scoring softer skin — drinking water can make an impact in a matter of minutes.
Searching for that dewy glow? Drinking water before bed helps maintain skin elasticity and moisture, potentially reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Vaseline may be able to temporarily mask the appearance of wrinkles around the mouth. It can add moisture, plumping and hydrating the skin. With that said, it won't actually repair the skin or prevent future damage. There is no active ingredient in Vaseline that stimulates collagen production.
