Spray your scalp every 2 hours while awake with the bottle provided you at the end of your procedure (you will go home with a spray bottle from the office filled with sterile saline). Refill the bottle with tap water and continue spraying your scalp for three days. This is to keep grafts moist.
Once you've had the surgery, your hair will be covered in dressings and you need to make sure to leave these alone. You won't be able to wash your hair during this period, as you'll need to spray saline every 30-45 minutes to ensure that the wounds are kept clean.
A high salt intake will lead to excessive water retention, which boosts swelling, which naturally you want to avoid. So, following the hair transplant, plan meals that are low in the stuff, at least for a few days.
For the first 7 days following your hair transplant procedure it is best to keep your head elevated using several pillows, a neck pillow or even sleeping in a reclined chair to prevent the build-up of swelling. After these 7 days you will be able to return to sleeping normally as any swelling should be resolved.
Day 3. Take your medication as directed. You can now stop using the spray bottle and gently wash the recipient area with the mild shampoo in your aftercare bag. Wet your head with a cup or bowl of room-temperature water or with a gentle stream of water from the shower.
Ideally, if you have the choice, you should aim to go back to work after 10 days following your hair transplant. At this point, you will have fully recovered from surgery and have minimal signs of redness and scabbing. Patients must consider what type of work they do when deciding when to go back to work.
Argan oil: This precious oil is known for its nourishing and repairing properties. Rich in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, it is light and rapidly absorbed by the skin, making it an ideal option for moisturising the scalp and strengthening hair without weighing down grafts.
If you don't use minoxidil after a hair transplant, you may miss out on its benefits of promoting hair growth and improving the density of transplanted hair. However, not using minoxidil doesn't affect the survival of the transplanted grafts, as they are permanent and will continue to grow.
Many patients see really good results around 6 months after their procedure. David Bernard's after picture below was taken 6 months after his July 2018 hair transplant. However, there is still a lot of growth ahead of you. In fact, at 6 months the most noticeable growth and thickening of the transplanted hair begins.
Foods To Eat After Hair Transplant

Although the sprays are safe for daily, ongoing use, they can cause a runny nose if you use too much at a time.
Shampooing should be done daily to remove the scabs. After about 7-10 days there should be no more traces of dried blood or scabs on your scalp. You may start washing your hair the normal way no sooner than 14 days after the transplant. If needed one can also wash the hair more than once a day after the operation.
Saline is a mixture of salt and water. A normal saline solution is called normal because its salt concentration is similar to tears, blood and other body fluids (0.9% saline). It is also called isotonic solution.
Spray your head with saline solution at least 3 times. Ideally, you should spray it every 30 minutes when you're awake. Take anti-swelling medication as prescribed and paracetamol if you need it.
Tea tree oil contains many beneficial compounds for maintaining scalp health and promoting follicle health. These compounds can help clean clogged hair follicles created by excess dirt or dead skin cells, helping them remain open so new hairs can grow in their place.
Hair grafts tend to shed between 2-12 weeks following surgery. After they have shed, the hairs should start to grow back over the next 4-12 months.
Argan, sesame or coconut oil can help nourish the scalp, and mild shampoos made from natural ingredients are preferred. A healthy diet, rich in minerals and vitamins and low in fats, helps provide the hair implants with a well-oxygenated and nutritious blood supply.
TRICARE doesn't cover: Hair transplants.
During the first 10 days you should avoid putting clothes over your head. This can damage or tear out the newly implanted hair roots. Therefore, do not wear clothes that you have to slip into with your head. Avoid T-shirts, sweaters, undershirts and the like.
The earliest you could cut your hair would be after passing the 14-day recovery period with scissors, after which your scalp should be well-healed. For clippers, you may have to wait a bit longer, our suggestion is 4 weeks post-surgery, as it will be cutting a bit too close to your scalp and irritate the healed area.
To be safe and get the best results possible, avoid hard scratching using your fingernails for several months post-surgery. You should be safe to gently rub your scalp using the flat side of your fingers (no nails) after around three weeks.
