During your initial evaluation for thread lifting, your provider will thoroughly discuss your concerns, assess your skin laxity, and determine how many PDO threads you may need to achieve your desired outcome. On average, patients require between 2 – 4 threads on each side of the face for a mid-face thread lift.
Patients typically need between one and four treatments for best results. Many patients chose to prolong the effects of PDO threading for several years with annual maintenance treatments.
The area that needs treating (jowls may need repositioning and require 6-8 cog threads per side). The number and shape of thread needed (1 PDO cog thread is longer and has had more costly engineering than 1 short smooth mono), so 4 cog threads will cost more than 10 smooth monos.
Typically under eyes takes a minimum of 10 PER eye, and the lower face takes a minimum of 30 PER side. Allthough less can be used if the patient chooses to do it more gradually. The mono thread full face treatment can use 100 threads or more.
Within six to eight months, you'll experience your final results. Results do vary among patients, but most people enjoy results that last for 18 months or longer.
Usually two contour threads are needed for each eye brow in brow lifting, three for nasolabial fold for each side and finally two for each side in double chin lifting.
How Often Should You Have Treatment? The results of this treatment can last for six to 12 months at a time, so how long the results of your treatment lasts will determine how often you should have treatment. Many patients opt to have regularly scheduled PDO thread lifts once or twice a year.
The ideal thread lift candidate is usually in his or her late thirties to early fifties, whereas most patients over the age of about 55 will benefit more profoundly from facelift surgery.
The authors of a 2019 study found that a PDO thread lift caused immediate improvements in skin sagging after the procedure. However, there was a noticeable decline in results 6 months later.
Barbed PDO threads are strong threads with strong lifting capacity. They anchor the skin and lift it up. 4-8 threads on each side are needed.

When the sutures begin to dissolve, it is likely you will notice the gradual return of sagging features. However, there is evidence to support that collagen is produced in the tissues surrounding the threads, which can lead to a longer lasting effect.
Lactic Acid threads, dissolve after 12 to 18 months. PCL, or polycaprolactone threads, are the most durable of the three. They take two to three years to dissolve fully.
A single CPU core can have up-to 2 threads per core. For example, if a CPU is dual core (i.e., 2 cores) it will have 4 threads. And if a CPU is Octal core (i.e., 8 core) it will have 16 threads and vice-versa.
A study published by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) confirms PDO thread lifts do work, stating thread lifts indisputably lift and shape facial soft tissues. Another study published by the NIH indicates this therapy yields around a 90 percent success rate.
Threads are an excellent option in correcting certain problem areas, especially if there is some laxity, drooping, or sagging of skin. On the other hand, fillers are designed to address the fine lines you want gone (or at least reduced in appearance).
An average of 10 threads per area (cheek or jawline, for example) are used.
But while threading is most commonly used for brows, it's worth noting that it's also a highly effective way of removing unwanted hair on the entire face and upper lip area.
The results of a PDO thread lift may take about 8 – 12 weeks to develop, and they will continue to improve over the next several months as the body ramps up its collagen production and new cell growth. When patients care for their skin properly, PDO thread lift results can last up to a year or longer.
As long as you feel fine, and you are healing well following your thread lift treatment, you should be fine to have Botox done one week following your thread lift. If you still have concerns don't hesitate to ask your provider for their recommendation.
Your skin produces collagen in response to the micro-injuries experienced during the thread lift. Your results will continue to improve over the course of two to three months as your skin produces extra collagen.
