Tara's self-tanning foams are rapid foams, so they develop fairly quickly. For a light tan, wait 2 hours. For a medium tan, wait 3 hours. And for a dark tan wait 4 to 6 hours. I waited 6 hours before rinsing because I wanted a dark tan.

Optimal Time to Shower After a Fake Tan

AFTER THE TAN
Shower lightly in cold – lukewarm water for 45 seconds ONLY after your desired development time. Use plain water, don't use shower gels, scrubs, shampoos or loofah during the first 24 hours after your treatment. Pat your skin dry. Do not rub or scrub your skin.
Allow to dry for a few minutes (or until touch dry), before getting dressed and allow your tan to develop over 4—8 hours for optimum results, before showering off the guide colour to reveal a natural-looking, streak-free tan.
After 8 hours, you should be fine to get in the shower or take a soak in the tub without worrying about your tan getting streaky or washing off prematurely. Self tanner tends to fade naturally on its own after a few days but shouldn't be affected by washing assuming you've allowed those initial 8 hours to pass.
While the self-tanner will make your skin look like you've spent some time in the sun it won't actually block the UV rays from reaching your skin. If the UV rays are getting to your skin then you can still tan or get a sunburn, even with self-tanner on.
Sitting or snuggling into your clothes right away is a major no-no. If you do, you might risk turning your fab tan into a patchy puzzle. Give your tan the royal treatment it deserves. After application, it's time to channel your inner diva and lounge in as little clothing as possible for at least an hour or two.

How long does fake tan take to dry? False tan formulas can feel tacky on the skin for hours afterwards, however, they should be largely absorbed after as little as twenty minutes. Just make sure to avoid restrictive clothes, underwire bras or anything that rubs onto the skin and don't get the skin wet.
Apply your self-tan in a cool, dry room
Apply your tan in front of a fan or in an airconditioned room and try to keep your cool as it develops (that's as little as two hours with our Bronzing Foam).
If you use quite a bit at a time or double coat it may make you sticky as it takes your skin longer to absorb it until it's dry to touch.

Let dry for 5 mins. Throw on a pair of loose pajama bottoms and a t-shirt. Set a towel over your pillow. Hop in to bed.
You can shave after tanning without removing all your newfound colour. Just make sure you wait at least 8 hours, so your tan has had time to develop. Then shave with gentle pressure, using a brand-new razor and an oil-free wash or shaving foam that won't break down your faux glow.
