"Generally speaking, otherwise healthy eyelashes grow about 0.15 millimeters per day and are typically about seven millimeters long (beyond the skin). So, doing the math, it takes one to two months to grow a normal-length eyelash from scratch," says King.
Anagen (growth) phase — Each eyelash follicle goes through a four- to 10-week growth phase at a daily rate of 0.12 to 0.14 millimeters per day. Eyelashes can grow back if pulled out, but it may take longer than 6 weeks or longer. This is because pulling an eyelash slows down the process of regrowth. While it's quite normal to lose 1-2 eyelashes a day, significant eyelash or eyebrow hair loss (madarosis) may indicate a more serious problem.
We have a myth going around that if you cry regularly, your eyelashes will grow longer. But does this work? Researchers believe the experience is related to how stress hormones like cortisol affect the hair follicles. The release of these hormones may increase growth, but they are unlikely to cause longer eyelashes.
The only way to achieve effective results with castor oil is to use it every night religiously. To give you an average estimate, it takes about 3-6 months for eyelashes to grow back and for you to notice a significant change in their thickness, length, and overall appearance.

The lash growth rate is influenced by several factors, including the topical prostaglandin analogs used to reduce the intraocular pressure in glaucoma patients. Nesher et al. demonstrated that the prostaglandin analog F2α receptors were expressed in several layers of the lash follicle during its anagen phase.
