Boil water in a kettle and hold the wrinkled clothing about 10-12 inches away from the steam pouring out of the spout, making sure not to burn yourself or your clothing in the process. The steam should flatten the wrinkles pretty quickly.
Our supply of collagen diminishes with advancing age. It takes three to six months of regular use to see an improvement in wrinkles with daily usage. Retinoids may be recommended for reversing forehead wrinkles, as well as improving skin texture and tone.
Use your clothes dryer.
Add something moist—a couple of ice cubes or a damp towel—with your wrinkled clothes in the dryer. The moisture will turn into wrinkle-removing steam. If you'd like to add a fresh scent to this technique, dampen a couple of dryer sheets and use them instead of the towel.
Place the garment in the dryer, preferably with a damp, but not soaking wet, towel. This will create steam and release the wrinkles. A washcloth can also work, especially if you are trying to remove wrinkles from just one small item. Put the dryer on a high setting for five to 10 minutes.
By far, the easiest way to dewrinkle without an iron is to go to the laundry room and stick the wrinkly clothes inside the dryer for 5 to 15 minutes on low to medium heat. For best results, lightly mist the clothes with water so they're slightly damp, or place a few ice cubes in the dryer along with the dry clothes.
To get wrinkles out of your clothes while you shower, just pop them in the dryer with a damp bath towel and set the timer for five minutes on medium heat. As the towel dries it will create steam to remove the creases in the fabric.
According to Tevelin, facial steaming can also help counteract signs of aging. "Facial steaming helps to boost hydration, which means it has a soothing, smoothing effect, and it also boosts radiance," she says.
Steaming is an effective way to get wrinkles out of almost any fabric—it requires less space to use a steamer (especially if you use a handheld steamer), and it takes less time and effort than ironing does. Plus, there are plenty of other benefits—even health related! —to steaming that you can't get from using an iron.
Heat can encourage blood flow, which provides the skin with more oxygen and makes it look healthier. Increased circulation can also stimulate collagen and elastin production. Elastin fibers maintain your skin's resiliency and elasticity, which helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Use the Dryer
If you're searching for the easiest way to remove wrinkles from your clothes, toss them back into the dryer! For items like shirts and pants that are wrinkled all over, slightly dampen a small thing, like a sock or washcloth, and toss your wrinkled clothes into the dryer on high for five to ten minutes.
Hang the wrinkled clothes up and mist. The wrinkles will usually smooth out on their own, but you can smooth them with your hands to speed up the process — just don't tug or you'll stretch out your clothes. Don't feel like making your own wrinkle remover?
“Place the steamer at the top of the garment and gently work your way down,” recommends Sokolowski. For best results, pull down on the bottom of your garment when steaming, ensuring the fabric is taut. This way, as the fibers are steamed, they're pulled straight and will dry into a smooth, wrinkle-free surface.
Release wrinkles with a damp towel
This is such a simple method, but it totally works. On a flat surface, place a damp towel over the wrinkled clothing. Use your hands to press down and smooth out deep creases. Hang the item to air dry.
Give it at least 20 minutes for the steam from the shower to help release the wrinkles in your outfit. It's a tried-and-true method for steaming fabrics in a pinch.
If you're looking for more-dramatic results, a dermatologist can recommend medical treatments for wrinkles, including prescription creams, botulinum toxin (Botox) injections or skin-resurfacing techniques.
Apply a moisturizing cream or serum.
The effects of your moisturizer or serum will be enhanced after a steam, so use something that nourishes. If you're after younger looking skin, this is a great time to use an anti-aging cream.
