A brow lift with Botox involves injecting Botox directly between the brows to relax the muscles underneath. This lets the upper forehead muscles “pull” the eyebrows back up and into their original place, allowing the skin to smooth out.
Where to inject Botox for brow lift. Eyebrow lift Botox injection sites are located between the eyebrows in the procerus and at the ends of the eyebrows in the orbicularis oculi. The reason that these are the Botox sites for eyebrow lifts is because they are the muscles that pull the eyebrows down.
The best way in a young person to adjust the brow height is with BOTOX, Xeomin or Dysport. All three neuromodulators can be used very elegantly to shape the brow. It is a way to lift the brows and shape it as you need while your face continues to change with age.
By injecting this muscle, just at the area it pulls the eyebrow down, we can treat the lateral brow. A 4-unit (Botox) injection into the tail of the eyebrow will affect the orbicularis oculi muscle superior and laterally and create a little lift with minimal risk and side effects possible.
Typically, a “Spock Brow” is due to overtreating depressors and/or undertreating elevators in the outer half of the forehead. It can be corrected by placing a small amount of Botox into the elevators in the outer forehead.
The “spock brow” can usually be avoided with proper placement of botulinum toxin. If it occurs, it can often be fixed by adding a small amount of additional botulinum treatment to the frontalis muscle just above the highest point of the brow arch.
Botox injections in the glabella area will lift the medial part of your brow. By injecting a small amount of botox on the outer aspect of the eye brow will result in a lateral lift as well. The lift is only a few millimeters however it does produce a nice refreshed appearance.
botox injected into the frowning muscles doesn't affect the frontalis muscle that helps raise the eyebrows. If you get treatment of this muscle on the forehead, if too high a dose is used you will not be able to raise your brow.
Spock brows happen when Botox is injected only at the central part of the upper forehead, leaving the sides untouched. When the central forehead is weakened and the outer sides remain active, it causes the central brow to drop and the outer brow to appear like it's lifted too high. The result: Spock brows.
Frown lines (Botox between eyebrows)
This is a very effective area on which to use BOTOX®. An experienced practitioner can subtly smooth these frown lines, resulting in a rejuvenated and more relaxed appearance.
Rather than use just any old razor, you'll need an eyebrow razor, in particular, to shape your arches. After cleansing and drying your face, gently pull your eyebrow so that skin is taut. Then, hold your razor at a 45-degree angle and shave in the direction of hair growth using short, light, downward strokes.
“There are three main methods for elevating the brows: Botox® injections, thread lifts, and surgical lifts, which can be traditional or endoscopic (i.e. performed in conjunction with a tiny camera),” says Jason Roostaenian, MD, a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon at UCLA.
Botox for low set brows. Using Botox to treat the muscles that pull the eyebrows down can give some improvement in brow position, but to a limited degree. A browlift would be an excellent option to lift your drooping eyebrows and reduce the heaviness around the eyes, and the sleepy look.
Between 4-8 units may be used for elevation of the outer brow and generally between 20-30 units or so to treat the glabellar area for a Botox brow lift.
Eye brow drop is one of the most common complications of Botox injections. We have few patients that come new to the clinic that ask us specifically to be careful with the eyebrow as they had them dropped before from previous injectors.
'Spocking' usually occurs 1-2 weeks after anti-wrinkle treatments. It is described as funny-looking eyebrows that are too high towards the outer end, especially when you raise your brows. Often, they are overarched and make it look like something is not quite right.
Botox onset is 5 to 7 days. Botox peaks at 10 to 14 days.
The most common reason that Botox does not work is that not enough was given. Botox is not a one size fits all treatment and the same dosage does not work for everyone. Some individuals may need additional Botox to reach an effective level of muscle weakness. The Botox may also be old, overdiluted, or fake.
A Botox brow lift can help treat dynamic wrinkles, or wrinkles formed from movement, such as those between your eyebrows. It can elevate the height of the brows, too. It may also be combined with other procedures, such as a blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery.
Sometimes certain muscles or parts of muscle relax faster after a Botox treatment than others. Many times, simply waiting two weeks will allow all of the muscles to be relaxed and the result will be perfect.
BOTOX brow lifts last until the neurotoxin wears off, which typically takes 3 to 4 months. Note that it will take between 7 and 10 days for your initial results to appear as the product takes effect.
The use of high Botox dose usually results in loss of expressions. In some articles and textbooks, the recommended dose of botulinum toxin type A injections is 20-40 Units for the glabella region, 15-30 units for the forehead and 12-30 units for the crow's feet.
On average 25 units of Botox will give your skin by your glabellar a full correction and will remove the 11 lines. The '11 lines' are the glabellar lines in between your eyes and eyebrows.
Answer: Unable to lift brow after Botox
This is an uncommon side effect, but one seen when under-trained or under-experienced persons are injecting Botox. Fortunately, the effects will wear out after 3-4 months at the most, but often sooner.
In most cases, droopy eyelid occurs between one and three weeks after treatment, and patients typically experience this adverse effect for just a few weeks. According to Dr. Holman, “It's important to remember that, like Botox treatments, a drooping eyelid is usually temporary. The effect will wear off after a while.
