Massaging feels very relaxing. It can be done by simply closing your eyes, pressing your upper eyelids lightly & gently massaging them in a circular motion with 3 fingertips. Perform 10 clockwise & 10 anti-clockwise movements. Use your fingertips to massage your temples in a circular motion too.
Physical stimuli, such as pressure and abrasion, also increase the blood flow. These findings suggest that massage applied to periocular regions can improve OBF. Any increase in OBF induced by massage may improve vision.

Massaging your eyes, eyebrows & temples is a simple yet excellent exercise to get rid of eye stress. This exercise is proven to reduce eye strain by increasing the blood flow to these areas. The light pressure felt during these exercises increases moistness in the eyes, which provide relief to our tired eyes.
In general, pressures of 20-30 mm Hg usually cause damage over several years, but pressures of 40-50 mm Hg can cause rapid visual loss and also precipitate retinovascular occlusion.
With clean hands, massage along the length of the eyelids towards the ear (massage upper lid down and the lower lid up) with the eyes closed using comfortable pressure. Massage for 30 seconds and repeat 5–10 times after warming the eyelids. This helps to push the oil out of the glands.
Clearly applying sustained pressure on the eye is the same as the risk from Glaucoma, and often an exterior pressure is greatly in excess of that which might be internally generated. Non repairable damage is likely to result from any significant increase of pressure on the eye.

1) WARM COMPRESSES
Heating the eyelid margin will increase oil production and melt the “crusty” oil that has become solid in the glands. Use a warm (not too hot) wet washcloth to apply heat on the eyelids for four minutes or more. This warms the oil, allowing it to flow more freely, and helps soften lash debris.
The triad of heating, cleaning and massaging will help the oily glands to function better. You can heat the glands with, for instance, a warm compress using warm tap water and makeup removal pads. You place them over your closed eyelids for two to three minutes and then repeat two more times.
Massaging helps to push out the oily fluid from the tiny meibomian glands. To massage the eyelids: Massage along the length of the upper and lower eyelids towards the eye. That is, sweeping downwards when moving along the upper eyelid, and upwards when moving along the lower eyelid.
Poor eyelid hygiene, bad nutrition, and activities that decrease your blink rate result in clogged meibomian glands. The technology era has contributed to the increase in dry eye in all ages. The eyelid margin consists of skin, meibomian gland openings and eyelashes.
Using your thumbs, gently press on the area right above the inner corner of the eyes where the crease of your lid begins. Press slowly and release. Repeat this exercise 5 times. By doing this, you're helping to relieve pressure in between your eyes.
Ocular hypertension has no obvious signs such as eye pain or red eyes. The only way to tell if you have high eye pressure is to have a comprehensive eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist. During a comprehensive eye exam, your eye doctor will measure your IOP with an instrument called a tonometer.
Over time, chronic eye rubbing causes micro-scratches on the cornea, and those small scratches accumulate to cause serious damage. In the beginning, a scratched cornea may cause eye-watering, redness, and light sensitivity. If the damage becomes worse, the cornea can become infected or develop scar tissue.
An eye doctor can insert a small probe into each gland, removing the obstruction. The process takes 10 to 15 minutes.
