When To Use Toner. As a general rule of thumb, when to use toner is after cleansing and before your serum and/or moisturizer. In fact, it's best to apply your serum or moisturizer while your skin is still a little damp from toning so that those products can pull that moisture into your skin and absorb better.
You'll know it's finally time for a replacement once the printed pages start to become streaky, lighter, or obviously of lower quality. Instead, take note of approximately how many jobs are being completed.
You should wait to shampoo your hair again after applying toner for about 24 hours. This will allow the toner to set and not wash out of your hair.
Signs of Expired Toner

There's two reasons why your hair is still brassy after toning or colouring. Either the undertone of the toner/colour is wrong, or the product is too light for you.
You want the hair cuticle to be open for toning. Towel-dry hair to about 65 - 75% dry then start toning. Usually color & bleach is on dry hair, even toners and colors that do not require developer; however toner that uses developer is recommended on towel dried hair.
T14 is a pale ash blonde with violet-blue tones, making it better for hair that still has some orange left in it. T18, on the other hand, is Lightest Ash Blonde with only a violet base. Violet cancels out yellow while blue cancels out orange.

Always give your hair a good rinse after using purple shampoo and conditioner. Even if you follow the instructions exactly when it comes to application and timing, not rinsing thoroughly is another quick path to lilac-tinted hair.
