Today in beauty treatments you never thought existed, allow us to introduce you to the vagina facial, a.k.a. the "vajacial." Apparently, you can now treat your vag to a soothing, relaxing skin-care treatment in your own home, according to telecommunications site BT.com.
A vajacial is typically a 50 minute treatment, which includes a cleanse, mild enzyme exfoliant, extractions of ingrown hairs, followed by a custom mask, completed with a skin brightening serum or spot treatment. A light chemical peel can also be done in this area.
Although vajacials are typically offered in conjunction with or after a wax since the treatment area should be free of hair before the service. You can book a Brazilian before your vajacial to make sure you are completely bare before your vajacial.
The bottom line. Both sugaring and waxing can be great forms of hair removal if you're looking for lasting results. There's no clear “winner” between the two, because it's ultimately down to preference. Those with sensitive skin types might prefer sugaring because of its gentler nature and more natural formulation.
When should you get a vajacial? The ideal time is 10 days after a bikini or Brazilian wax. Because your hair is just starting to appear beneath the surface of the skin, ingrown hairs are easier to extract, decreasing the likelihood that you will develop an infection from hair and bacteria trapped under the skin.
Exfoliate the Skin
Use a loofah, washcloth, or exfoliating sponge to gently exfoliate your skin before shaving. Exfoliating will remove any dead skin and allow you to shave the hair as near to the root as possible. Harsh exfoliants aren't necessary and can actually do more harm than good in your pubic area.
The VANICURE® is a three-step system designed to soothe, protect and enhance your bikini line before and after waxes. With a combination of cleansing, exfoliation and moisturizing, The VANICURE® leaves your skin looking radiant and protected against ingrown hairs and irritation.
Your hair has to be at least 1/4-inch long, or around the size of a grain of rice, before you wax. This helps ensure that hair is completely removed from the root. If this is your first time waxing, try to grow out hair from your most previous hair removal for around 2 weeks.
What is a Brazilian wax? In a Brazilian wax, pubic hair is groomed and removed from the front of the pubic bone, around the external genitals, between the upper thighs, and around the anus. Depending on your preferences, you can choose to remove all hair in the area or leave a small strip of hair in the front.
Baking soda and water paste
If you want to try using a baking soda scrub: Make a paste of equal parts baking soda and water. Apply a thin layer to the inner thighs, like you would a face or body mask. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes, and then rinse off.
Similar to waxing, sugaring removes body hair by quickly pulling the hair from the root. The name for this method comes from the paste itself, which consists of lemon, water, and sugar. The ingredients are all heated together until it reaches a candy-like consistency. Once it cools it's applied directly to the skin.
In a saucepan, combine two cups of sugar with a quarter cup water and a quarter cup lemon juice. Bring the mixture to a boil (this will take about five to seven minutes). Transfer the liquid to a container and let it sit for approximately twenty minutes, allowing it to cool off and harden.
I found that sugaring is more effective and gets off even the little baby hairs. Waxing lasts about 4 weeks long (for me) and sugaring lasts about 5 weeks long. It's pretty negligable and for me it's more about the experience than the result (sugaring is so much more gentle and I love that it's organic!)
What is a VAJACIAL? It is a treatment for your pubic area, including the outer labia. It has several benefits including alleviating hyper-pigmentation, ingrown hair, and irritation from pantyliner. It exfoliates dead cells, cleans pores, kills bacterias, and moisturizes, all in one treatment!
The vajacial is a revitalizing treatment, implemented post–Brazilian wax—a process that, many of us know, can be pretty grueling on the skin. The treatment involves exfoliation, calming masks, steaming, ingrown-hair extraction and lightening creams, and costs you around $50 to $60.
