Treating Marionette Lines
Small amounts of Botox are injected into the DAO muscle to relax it, virtually erasing the marionette lines. The Botox injections also create a slight lift in the area around the mouth for a more pleasant facial expression. Dermal fillers temporarily add shape and volume to the treated area.
Botox works by relaxing the muscles around the mouth, but it cannot soften the deep folds in the nasolabial area. In this case, a volume-adding injectable like dermal fillers is often the better choice because it can fill the deep wrinkles and smoothen the skin.
If your marionette lines are only just forming and are yet to really make their mark, microneedling is another great option. Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling works by creating tiny, controlled pinhole injuries in the skin.
Like foundation, concealer will even out your skin. If your purpose is to hide marionette lines, dab your liquid concealer into the area around your mouth using a concealer brush or your finger until it has completely absorbed. Lastly, apply a setting powder all around your face using a large makeup brush.
Filler treatment for marionette lines can last anywhere from 6 to 18 months.
Juvéderm for Marionette Lines? To treat the vertical lines between the mouth and chin to reduce the look of sagging, you're likely to need one syringe per side.
As for the cost, it depends how many areas are filled and how many threads are used. The cost is about $200-300 for a pair of laugh lines or marionette lines.
In some cases, marionette lines will first appear very early, as early as a person's late teenage years. In most cases, however, they won't become really noticeable until a person is in their 20's or early 30's.

Radiesse (another popular filler) instantly adds volume back into the skin while also utilizing an ingredient that stimulates the production of collagen over time.
How does the treatment work? Dermal fillers are applied to the marionette lines and the corners of the mouth. This hides the shadow between the 2 areas creating a flatter shape. This smoothens out the marionette lines and reduces the appearance of the jowls.
The needle should be inserted approximately 1 cm below the lip and a linear threading technique should be used to inject filler along the lower lip and into the marionette fold.
After dermal filler injections into the marionette line area and lower face, side effects can include redness, swelling, and tenderness in the injection site. These effects usually subside within two days. Any redness and bruising can be camouflaged with make-up.
