Injection Location and Movement
Talking, eating, breathing, kissing – you name it, the lips are involved, which is why fillers in the lips break down much faster than those in, say, the tear troughs.
The three fillers that tend to last the longest are Restylane Lyft, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Refyne, Juvederm, Voluma, Radiesse, and Sculptra. Too much exposure to UV rays can cause certain types of filler to break down more quickly, which will lead to your body absorbing them sooner than you may like. When on holiday, make sure that you slap on a high SPF, wear a wide-brimmed hat to cover your face and lips, and enjoy some time in the shade.
While for some people two weeks might be acceptable after having a small amount of filler dissolved, for most people this simply isn't long enough. The truth is – the longer you leave your lips, the more time they will have the heal and the better your results will be in the future.
The speed of your metabolism will greatly affect how long your treatment results last. In addition, cosmetic fillers tend to last longer in areas with less movement. Frequent movement can cause the material to break down faster and diminish the longevity of your results.
Juvederm and Restylane fillers last longer than other fillers. Juvederm and Restylane are currently the longest-lasting and most durable dermal fillers on the market. Juvederm and Restylane are families of hyaluronic acid fillers with numerous possible formulations.
You may want to plan for touch-ups every 3-6 months to ensure the best results. Like Restylane, Juvéderm is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler, which makes it a safe and effective choice.
Massage can encourage the filler to be broken up by the body more quickly. But in practice this still takes a long time (like weeks of daily vigorous massage) to improve the outcome.
There are a plethora of fillers on the market that are perfect for restoring volume loss, it just depends on how much volume or plump you want to add. Restylane Silk for lips
Restylane Silk is the formula used for the lip area. According to their official website, Restylane Silk was the first lip filler approved by the FDA. It promises “silkier, smoother, natural-looking lips.” Restylane Silk can be used for both lip augmentation as well as smoothing out lip lines.
You can get repeat treatments every six months. Scientists have found that hyaluronic acid injections prompt the skin to produce more collagen, creating more natural plumpness in the lips.
Apply an ice pack for up to 10 minutes to reduce inflammation, pain and swelling. Avoid wearing lipstick, lip balm or any other product on your lips for at least 24 hours.
Please don't apply make-up or products to the area for 24 hours, if you want to apply balm to your lips only use Vaseline for 24 hours after your treatment appointment using a clean finger or a cotton bud. After 24 hours you can apply make-up and apply your usual lip balm.
Patients tend to report that lip swelling is the worst the first day after their injection, particularly in the morning. Swelling should go down within 2–3 days after your lip filler treatment, and should subside completely within 2 weeks post-treatment.
The Russian technique accentuates the cupid's bow to resemble a heart-shape by injecting additional volume and lift into the center of the lips, while the sides still remain relatively in line with the face. The result is doll-like while still appearing naturally full and plump.
JUVÉDERM results can last between 1 – 2 years. Restylane is used to treat the same areas of the face as JUVÉDERM. However, it tends to work well to fill in folds or lines around the nose and cheeks, and the eyes. Restylane fillers typically last 6 – 18 months, depending on the target area.
While both treatments are considered effective, Juvéderm works quicker and lasts longer. Botox can take a few days to take effect and the results wear off after a few months. You will need follow-up treatments to maintain your results, no matter which treatment you choose.
DON'T: massage your lips.
Massaging freshly injected lips risks moving the filler around causing the possibility of desportation and undesirable results.
If given the “okay”, start to gentle massage your lips within the first 48 hours of receiving injections. Simply take your forefinger and thumb and slowly work around your lips in order to get out any bumpy areas where the filler may be more inclined to store itself.
The Results Improve Over Time
Because these injections stimulate your body's production of collagen and elastin, the final results of treatment won't be seen for several weeks. Even as the hyaluronic acid is processed by your body, healthy collagen and elastin grow at a more significant rate.
Check with your provider to ensure that the lump is not an uncommon complication, like an infection or a vascular block; if you're in the clear, there is no need to worry, and the lump will usually resolve itself within one to two weeks. You can minimize the swelling by icing or applying a cold compress.
