Dry time. Staining your clothes isn't a big problem with gradual tans since they're close to colourless until they react with your skin, but putting on your clothes while it's wet can still lead to smudging on your skin.
This tan lasts for as long as you keep applying the moisturiser! And when it is the time you want to scrub off, it comes off very easily.
Your clothing, towels, and bedsheets are all fabrics most at risk of becoming stained by fake tan. Luckily, unless your garments are white or pale, fake tan stains will usually come out on your standard 40C wash.
Mix a solution of soapy water and dab at the stain.
Mix up a water and laundry detergent solution; in a pinch, even dishwashing liquid mixed with water can work. Use your fingertip to work the solution into the stain, then rinse, repeat, and continue sponging with the solution until the stain is gone.
The streak-free formula creates an even tan without staining your clothes, allowing you to feel confident and carefree all day long. Apply the tanning mousse in circular, even motions onto clean, dry skin for a streak-free tan.
The initial development of your gradual tan will take place over the first 2–4 hours after application, so you should avoid showering during this initial period to allow your tan to develop properly.
Baby Oil
Raw oils like coconut, olive, or sunflower will work in a pinch, but be sure to pick up baby oil if you want the best results. When it's time to remove your self-tanner, simply slather your skin with the baby oil and leave it on for a few minutes. Then rinse it off in the shower using a loofah or washcloth.
Lastly, while water won't wash away your gradual tan, it may dry out your skin (which is the next worst thing). To prevent your skin from flaking and making your gradual tan patchy, make sure to moisturise straight after you shower.
Do I need to worry about tan coming off on my bed sheets? NO! If you are using a tanning product without a guide colour, like our Self-Tanning Waters, Glow Clear Mousse or Self-Tanning Drops, you are safe! These have no guide colour, which means no transfer onto sheets!
A: It does transfer just a little bit but not noticeably. I have noticed on my white bed sheets there are a few faint marks from this tanning cream. However, I am so pleased with this product it certainly doesn't stop me using it.
Massage the lotion evenly over clean, dry skin with circular motions. Allow the Dove body lotion to absorb into your skin before getting dressed and, once you're finished, remember to wash your hands. Planning on spending time in the sun? Apply a separate sunscreen product over the top once your skin is dry.
AFTER THE TAN
Wear dark loose clothing; tight clothing or underwear may cause marks. Wear loose fitting shoes.
They've changed the consistency and now it's more runny which means you need to rub it in even more. After a few hours, (the next morning) apply more, then once every 5 to 7 days. I usually get it all off after a week then start again or it will go patchy from when you're drying your legs.
Use Summer Revived gradual self-tan mousse daily, then once you're happy with your level of tan, you can space out your applications and reapply as often as you need to maintain your summery, natural-looking glow. On your 'non-tanning' days, replenish with a fast absorbing moisturiser.

By combining this technology with natural-looking tanners for the first time, Dove created a pampering lotion that gradually builds a sun-kissed look while providing 72h of active moisturisation.
All of MineTan's moisturising gradual tanners act just like your regular daily moisturiser that you sleep in or put your clothes on top of except a tan will gradually develop all without the guide colors rubbing off on your clothes or sheets.
But Wong says it's unlikely that any skin aging effect would be pronounced. "The human studies so far have found that DHA mostly reacts in the top layers of the skin, which are dead. In skin aging, the concern is excessive free radicals forming deeper in the dermal layers of skin where collagen and elastin are."
Dove Summer Revived Light to Medium Gradual Tanning Lotion For Face and Body All Skin Types 75ml 4.6 out of 5 stars, average rating value.
What sets gradual tanning lotions apart is that they use far less DHA than traditional self-tan, and deliver it in a moisturiser product that doesn't need to be washed off.
Use Dish Soap
Dish soap can not only cut through grime and grease but can also get rid of your spray tan.
Make a solution of warm water and liquid dish soap and blot the stain with it, working from the outer edges inwards. Rinse the area well with cold water — then launder as usual, using a heavy-duty detergent. Avoid placing clothing in the dryer until you are certain the stain has been removed.
Using large circular motions, massage Dove Visible Glow Gradual Self-Tan Body Lotion Medium to Dark into clean, dry skin using your hands or a tanning mitt. Allow the body lotion to fully absorb before getting dressed and remember to wash your hands.
Does swimming in chlorine take off the dove gradual tan moisturiser? Honestly, it depends. It won't take it off entirely but will sometimes make it a little bit patchy or sometimes won't take it off at all.
