We know that CoolSculpting is an effective body contouring treatment and an excellent option for non-invasive stubborn fat reduction, but will it tighten skin as well? The answer is, in some cases, yes. But if you want a sure-fire way to eliminate loose and sagging neck skin, the solution is a neck lift.
FDA approved Coolsculpting Mini applicator, CoolMini™, is designed to treat smaller pockets of fat, including the submental, or chin fat area, more commonly referred to as the double chin or “turkey neck”.
If you're at or very near your ideal weight, you should only expect to need one treatment session. However, if you're over 20 pounds from your goal weight, you may need two sessions to achieve your ideal aesthetic.
Interestingly, the inflammation created by CoolSculpting® has been shown to tighten the skin. However, patients who want to tighten their skin after fat reduction with CoolSculpting® can choose alternative cosmetic treatments to use in combination with fat-freezing treatments for firmer skin.
There are a number of different ways you can tighten your neck skin. Some methods, such as face yoga and drinking plenty of water, can be done at home for little to no cost. However, more invasive methods, such as Botox injections and laser treatments, may be necessary if your skin is extremely loose.
While every patient is different, most patients benefit from one to three sessions for each area of concern. We recommend that patients wait at least 60 days before retreating any area. Our dermatologists can work with you to design a customized treatment plan that will help you reach or even exceed your goals.
Uses CoolSculpting® and CoolSculpting® Elite are FDA-cleared for the treatment of visible fat bulges in the submental (under the chin) and submandibular (under the jawline) areas, thigh, abdomen, and flank, along with bra fat, back fat, underneath the buttocks (also known as banana roll), and upper arm.
You will see noticeable results between one and three months after your first treatment session. The fat cells are slowly removed from the body, and it may take as many as four to six months after your final treatment to see the results of your treatment.
If you have too many sessions, you might lose enough fat that additional treatments won't do much good. It's also possible to have so much Coolsculpting that the treated area ends up looking concave or indented.
Various types of lasers can be used to heat and tighten the skin on the neck without surgery. Depending on the type of laser, the results can be mild to moderate; treatment usually requires multiple sessions to achieve the desired result. There is usually minimal recovery time and the results can last a few years.
Radiofrequency When you have this type of radiofrequency, a thin tube (or needles), is inserted into your skin to heat up the tissue beneath. This allows your dermatologist to provide heat exactly where you need it to tighten loose skin. Dermatologists often use this procedure to tighten the neck or upper arms.
You can do this by placing your hands on the back of your head, and gently pushing your head backward. Once you feel resistance in the neck, hold that position for up to 10 seconds. Then, release and relax your neck. Repeat 5 times, making sure not to overdo it and cause unnecessary neck pain.
Not Everyone Is a CoolSculpting Candidate. Not everyone sees the same results after CoolSculpting because not everyone has the right kind of fat to be a good candidate. CoolSculpting works best on the fluffy fat that lies above the muscle wall, formally known as subcutaneous fat.
Kybella and CoolSculpting can both help you get rid of a double chin, but some important differences may influence your treatment decision. Kybella is quick and easy, and it only requires 1-3 injection sessions, while CoolSculpting can take between 2-4 sessions.
In general, most people achieve their desired results after two sessions. Theoretically, you can schedule several sessions to treat a specific area. CoolSculpting is safe and typically delivers the desired results within two or three procedures.
To be clear, CoolSculpting is a body contouring treatment and is not intended to help with weight loss, so it's very unlikely that you will lose a significant amount of weight when you use this treatment. However, most patients will be able to lose at least two to five pounds of body fat when they use the treatment.
The amount of fat that is killed by each Coolsculpting treatment is approximately 20% or a tablespoon. This is not enough to see significant weight loss in numbers. Coolsculpting does not replace diet and exercise. It is used to target stubborn areas of subcutaneous fat that do no respond to diet and exercise.
Typically, you can expect the removal of 20 to 25% of the fat cells in the targeted area during each CoolSculpting session. That said, the size of the targeted area affects the amount of fat that can be removed from a single session significantly.
CoolSculpting® can be performed on body areas where excessive fat layers are visible, like the arms, thighs, neck, face, abdomen, love handles and more.
The effects of CoolSculpting are intended to last a lifetime. The stomach region is the only exception, which could take two or three sessions to achieve optimal results. Consult your provider on how many sessions you'll need in the end.
