Makeup is one of the most important things to avoid after your dermal filler treatment. This is largely because your dermal filler injection sites need to remain sterile and clear of all bacteria for at least six to 24 hours.
You can definitely put make-up on the day after you have anti-wrinkle injections or dermal filler treatment. The pharmaceutical companies advise us to tell our patients no make-up for 4hours after injection. However, with dermal fillers, I often advise my patients no make-up until the day after treatment.
That said, these injectable treatments take some time to integrate into your tissues, and it's normal for your dermal filler to take up to two weeks to fully settle into your face.
How long after lip fillers can I wear makeup or lipstick? There is no medical reason why you cannot apply makeup including lip gloss or lipstick directly after lip fillers. A treatment can leave the lips feeling slightly tender, so it is recommended that you leave it a day before applying makeup to the treatment area.
Makeup can not only cause your fillers to spread over other areas of your face (because of the pressure and touching involved with applying makeup), but it can also come in contact with the injection sites, and potentially cause infection. So stay bare-faced for a day or two – you'll be glad you did!
IMMEDIATE after care – What to do at home
Apply a cool compress to the treatment area (do not apply ice directly to the skin) for 10 minutes every half an hour on the day of treatment. Avoid any heat inducing activities for 24 hours such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas and hot showers.
Hydration can help extend the life of your fillers, especially hyaluronic acid-based injections. Hyaluronic acid loves water, so the more hydrated you stay and the more moisturizer you use, the better. Aim for eight glasses of water a day and remember to apply a moisturizing lotion day and night.
The filler can take several weeks to soften and settle into your skin. This means that patients won't see the ultimate results of their treatment immediately. Although individual results will vary, many people achieve the full effect within two weeks after receiving their injections.
Hyaluronic acid fillers tend to be the most temporary option, and therefore are often recommended for first-time filler patients. These will typically last from 6 to 18 months.
Putting hyaluronic acid on a dry face should be avoided because the product can draw moisture from a deeper level, which can be very harmful to your skin health. Using hyaluronic acid where the humidity level is low is quite a tricky task. It is essential to apply moisturizer when you're applying hyaluronic acid.
Do not touch or rub injected site for 2-4 hours following treatment. Avoid exercise and sweating for the remainder of the day and no lying down or leaning forward for 2-4 hours after treatment. There can be a slight chance of bruising at the treated site, this is temporary.

(2) Plan to avoid wearing make-up for at least 12 hours after your injectable treatment. Yes, we know some people want to inject and party on! But that's definitely not ideal for the best results.
Try to sleep on your back for 24-48 hours after filler injections. After that, you can safely sleep on your side without worrying that the filler will move with gravity.
Swelling subsides, typically, within a few days. It's most apparent 24 to 72 hours after treatment before starting to subside gradually. Very occasionally, swelling can last from several days to four weeks.
Dermal filler doesn't 'normally', move after treatment. Immediately after treatment, in certain areas of the face, I do gently massage the area/s that were injected to help mold the product and prevent lumps. It does take about 2 weeks for the filler to settle and integrate into the tissue.
Drink plenty of water. HA based fillers such as Juvederm work by using the water naturally stored in our tissues, by drinking plenty of water after having a dermal filler treatment it helps the filler hold its chaos and last for longer.
Juvederm and Restylane are currently the longest-lasting and most durable dermal fillers on the market. Juvederm and Restylane are families of hyaluronic acid fillers with numerous possible formulations. Each collection has numerous products catering to different cosmetic needs.
Sun exposure speeds up the aging process on the skin and is one of the leading causes of wrinkles. Those UV rays can also cause certain fillers to break down faster and being absorbed by the body more quickly. To get the best results, use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day.
You are not allowed to smile for a few days after a lip filler. Facial expressions such as smiling, laughing, or frowning should have zero impact on your lip filler. It is actually better for you to smile and gently massage your lips, to help spread the product and produce a more natural end-result.
Avoid itching, or picking around the injection site. Avoid applying intense heat to the treated area, that includes hot tubs, saunas, sunbathing or tanning. Don't drink alcohol the day of treatment, and try to avoid it for 2 days after. Avoid exercising for 2 days or until swelling subsides.
Some dermal fillers have been studied to last close to two years. The three fillers that tend to last the longest are Restylane Lyft, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Refyne, Juvederm, Voluma, Radiesse, and Sculptra. Restylane Defyne is built for balance and used in the nasal labial folds and marionette lines.
