Ice has the potential to treat pimples without the side effects that are sometimes seen in conventional acne treatments. Still, there's no proof that ice is more effective. Many natural remedies can also take longer to work, so it's important to be patient as your pimple gradually disappears.
However, ice may have little to no effect on noninflammatory pimples, such as comedones, more commonly known as blackheads and whiteheads. While a cold compress can minimize inflammation and make pimples less noticeable or painful, it will not remove the contents inside a pimple.
This is because an ice facial improves blood circulation, brightens skin and makes it appear radiant. This is why, with prolonged use, ice massages could lead to reducing dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Most of the time, those reddish or brownish acne marks that are left behind after pimples clear up will fade with no need for treatment. Picking or squeezing acne can increase the risk for scarring, though. Acne scars take two forms: scars with a gradual dip or depression (sometimes called "rolling" scars)
One of the best properties of ice is anti-inflammatory that helps reduces and heal acne. It calms and soothes inflamed skin and minimizes the size of your pores. It also reduces the excess sebum production that is the main culprit behind acne.

Don't apply ice on your skin more than once a day. If you have sensitive skin, don't apply ice cubes directly to your face. A towel or a cold compress works better. Do not leave an ice pack or cube on a particular area of your face for more than a minute.
After applying warmth for 5 to 10 minutes, you can then follow up with ice for one minute to decrease inflammation and swelling. You can repeat this process daily as needed until the pimple clears up. However, you should never follow up ice treatments with hot compresses, as this can damage your skin.
If you want natural skin whitening and brightening effects over skin, you can make your own special ice cubes at home. Adding some drops of lemon to the water and then freezing them together can prove beneficial for your skin. You can massage your face with these ice cubes once during the day, and once during night.

Place the wrapped ice cubed directly on top of the acne and hold it for a minute. Remove the ice cube and wait for a couple of minutes. If needed you can reapply the ice cube wrapped in a cloth one more time. Use this method multiple times a week to get rid of the acne.
Apply the ice to your pimples in one-minute increments only. You can try this for one minute after your morning and evening face cleanses. If your pimple is extremely inflamed, you can follow up with multiple increments — just make sure you leave about five minutes in between each minute.
In the event that you wear a significant amount of makeup, consider applying ice to your face each morning before putting on your makeup. If you suffer from acne or similar skin blemishes, ice your face every other night before you go to bed.
Apply ice, then heat.
Once a whitehead begins to form, a warm compress can help release the pus that accumulates under the skin. Soak a clean washcloth in hot water. Apply the warm cloth to the affected area for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat this step three to four times daily until the pimple begins to heal.
