It's Great for Your Lips
If you have chapped lips, JOHNSON'S baby oil gel can help soften and heal your lips naturally. In addition, because of the oil naturally found in the gel, it is great to use as an everyday lip gloss and leaves your lips looking really glossy.
The primary benefit of coconut oil is its moisturizing effects. This makes it ideal for chapped lips. Your lips are particularly sensitive to moisture loss because the skin is thin, and they're exposed to the elements more so than other parts of your skin.
Almond oil replenishes the lips and prevents it from getting chapped while lemon acts as the natural bleaching agent that lightens the lips and makes them naturally supple and pink.
Lip oils offer shiny, hydrating color — without the stickiness of gloss. This hybrid lip treatment and gloss visibly plumps and protects. And it does so while providing a juicy slick of color. There's hyaluronic acid and avocado oil to hydrate along with shea butter to soften.
It can treat, soothe, and nourish that delicate skin, all while helping your lips look juicy and plump. That's because lip oils are typically made with a high concentration of hydrating oils like jojoba, rosehip, and coconut oils, all of which are amazing at soothing dry lips.
Topical (for the skin) emollients are used to treat or prevent dry skin. Baby Oil are sometimes contained in products that also treat acne, chapped lips, diaper rash, cold sores, or other minor skin irritation.
Can you use baby oil as a face moisturizer? Baby oil is noncomedogenic, meaning it won't clog your skin's pores. So if you have a dry-to-normal skin type, you can use baby oil to moisturize your face.
While baby oil is perfectly safe to be used as a non-toxic alternative to other creams, it is not advisable to use it on the face. Baby oil tends to clog pores and cause acne if used on the face.
Lip balms are typically formulated with ingredients like petroleum jelly and are meant to coat your pout in moisture. Balms have thicker formulas and may have fun flavors or SPF added in. Lip oils, on the other hand, often provide longer-lasting moisture, which means you may notice you don't have to reapply as often.
Lip Oil vs Lip Balm
They coat the lips and provide temporary relief, but they don't provide any long-lasting benefits. Lip oils are different because they are made from natural oils that can penetrate deep into the lips to add moisture that lasts for hours without reapplying.
"A lip balm contains waxes that prevent moisture from evaporating from the top layer of the lip; an oil simply hydrates the lip but doesn't prevent the loss of moisture; and a lip mask usually just replenishes the lip with hydration, but doesn't seal in any moisture." A-ha.
Trauma or injury. A bruise can form on one or both lips following an injury. This can cause your lips to be partly or entirely purple or black. Dry, cracked, and severely damaged lips, including burns, can also turn lips dark.
Specific triggers play a significant role like excessive sun exposure, hormonal changes and nutrition. Another skin condition, i.e. acanthosis nigricans can also cause thickening and darkening of the upper lip area. Eczemas and conditions like atopic dermatitis can cause pigmentation in the area above the upper lip.
Discoloration around the mouth is a common manifestation of hyperpigmentation. These darkened areas of skin tend to develop in small patches, and may occur anywhere on the body. The discoloration is a direct result of increased melanin production in your skin.
The main ingredients needed to make lip gloss at home are olive oil, coconut oil, mango butter, and beeswax. I recommend taking it a step further by adding in color as well as essential oils for a beautiful scent, added benefits and flavor.

Does licking my lips often make it pink? No. Saliva contains many enzymes. Licking your lips more often would make your lips dry, so try not to lick your lips and apply a good moisturizer instead.
The lips appear red because of the underlying blood vessels. Arteries are blood vessels that carry blood back to the heart. The arteries and veins are connected through a series of blood vessels called the capillaries.
Apply a non-irritating lip balm (or lip moisturizer) several times a day and before bed. If your lips are very dry and cracked, try a thick ointment, such as white petroleum jelly. Ointment seals in water longer than waxes or oils. Slather on a non-irritating lip balm with SPF 30 or higher before going outdoors.
Lip oils are so versatile! You can use it as a prepping product, actual makeup, or a skin care treatment. You can use it as a gloss substitute, most especially if you hate the heavy, sticky feeling of the latter, an overnight lip treatment, a 5- minute pre- lipstick treatment, or skin care base before lip balm.
